Why are so many professionals deactivating today?

  • So I was one of the first responders on this thread. It's been almost a week since the large deactivation happened. I think it's really slowed down now and things seem baltimore ck to normal. At least for me, hoping all is well for everyone else who experienced this.

  • "Back to normal " wow spell check

  • I kinda like that things seem Baltimore :-)

  • Lol! Hey good to see you back and congrats on the award!

  • Thank you sir

  • So after a week since the pro deactivation process, It has totally reversed. In the past 24 hours now in my search criteria area it is now 60% pro vs 40% non pro. Last tuesday after the "purge" it was 60% non pro and 40% pro. I kept wondering if the non pros were going to get even more attention than they could tolerate. Looks like things have definetly returned to the way it was before. Again, at least for my search. Hope everyone is doing well tonight.

  • In my area (within 100 miles), I would say around 55- 60% have returned to being active again.

Yep I am finally Necroposting!! I was thinking there was a decent thread about purging inactive profiles. I think its an interesting read . This was the one I was thinking of. The site has purged accounts before. It is interesting to read the various comments and thoughts of members. This thread was from like almost 5 years ago. Dang I've been here awhile 😳

  • Here’s something weird, our wonderful moderator @Charlie_Bear just deactivated! He was such a great asset. What the heck????

  • @WestsideMarc the mods regularly take deactivation / breaks like other members here. 👍

  • @WestsideMarc - I just texted him. He's taking a break. 😊

    Why did @Charlie_Bear deactivate?

  • You didn't know that it's national professional deactivation day ?

  • I don’t blame him or any mod for taking occasional deactivation breaks. Especially when it’s all volunteer work. Sometimes you need a break. There are positive experiences from helping, as well as the negative ones.

@SoftHairForDays If you talk to him again. Please let him know that there are people here that are thinking of him and miss him. At least I do.

@everyone he tries incredibly hard not to side any which way too much. Seriously, leave @Charlie_Bear alone. If you’re mad at me go for it but sometimes I think people can sense how fair he wants to be to everyone and take advantage of it by being mean.

I even asked another mod to review all of my comments on the forums today. If I’m wrong I’m wrong but GD… kicking the teddy bear isn’t nice.

Do you know how fast @Sideon @netrunner @Shake49 @cheeseboy would react if people treated them with such disrespect.

I’m tagging them so someone can look over what I said. A little sick of people saying things about him because they’re pissed at me and at that moment he takes my side or appears to even when he’s being him. As a unique wonderful human being.

To the other mods … the posts I’m asking to be reviewed are “should they be allowed” and “how has your viewpoint on cuddling changed?” Which was named something else before which is part of the reason there was an upset. Hugs.

@stormydaycuddle I wasn't blaming you and I certainly didn't want to add to his burdens. I just wanted him to know he is cared about.

  • @1_teddybear Im blaming me. Not sure if anyone’s flagged all their posts before but I did. 2nd opinion.

  • @1_teddybear - I passed that along. 😊

With all of the recent threads, I hope I didn't ruffle feathers with any of my comments (I never intend to do so). I don't tend to leave many comments. I would say I'm more of an observer.

If I had to make an (educated) GUESS I’d say the good and fine @Charlie_Bear deactivated his account because he got tired of devoting endless hours and energy wading through, policing, commenting on, flagging, and removing tedious, petty, elementary school nonsense drama on a website for cuddling.

    Without pay.

    But that’s just my guess.

  • People, including the mods, deactivate regularly for all manner of reasons, and come back. It just keeps their PM box closed; I find it poorly named, as it often causes others to panic thinking they've left forever. When people leave forever, they typically delete their account, though even that is reversible for some time.

  • @SunsetSnuggles - They either took away the option to delete the account or they moved it somewhere else. I only see deactivate and mute.

  • @Mike403 It's right below those:

@Mike403 Dunno what to tell you, mate. The first screenshot I shared was on my phone. This is on my laptop:

    Maybe clear your cookies?

    ~ Sunset Snuggles

  • @SunsetSnuggles - I looked at it on my phone. That option is not there for me.

  • @Mike403 Have you logged out or cleared cookies since the update they did on the site, recently? Lots of little bugs were solved, that way. My guess is there...either that or the mods just love you so much they've written programming in so that you can never delete. 😈

  • To anyone wondering, I am not planning on deleting. I just noticed that something was missing from the settings menu and was just curious.

  • [Deleted User]MaverickLegend (deleted user)

@Mike403 thank goodness! I was worried you were going to!

  • @lonelytauros - Somebody DM'd me about it so I thought I'd make it clear.. Although I took hiatuses before. If I took another one, it might just be the forums where all the toxicity happens.
