I personally don't care either way. Whatever makes you happy. I think anyone can look good with and without makeup, and to me the person themselves matter more. Perhaps if it's heavy makeup that gets on my clothes I'd prefer without during cuddling just for that reason only. An ex I used to live with often wore a lot of makeup, but I also did see her without it and didn't mind either way. I would just laugh when I would get a hug and see powder on my t-shirt.
Not my body not my face. Just being a good human is enough for me . Personally I feel it runs the risk of putting unnecessary pressure on the other person to look a certain way to appease the other. Just be you and be confident with however you look .
Since the question was specifically presented as a choice between two options, I’ll go with makeup. Maybe it has to do with coming of age in the 80s (with colorful styles from the Bangles, the Go-Gos, Pat Benatar, Cyndi Lauper, Grace Jones, and so on) but that’s my personal preference in any case.
I prefer women with make up. It’s almost like an art form when it’s done nicely, it helps accentuate and highlight certain features. But then again, my eyesight is bad so that’s probably why I prefer it. Lol 😂
. ..
I'm a big freaking hippie at heart, so if you want my preference, it's without for me. Of course, I would never criticize someone's decision to wear makeup or present themselves any way they see fit. I know perfectly well that makeup can look really nice. I'm no hypocrite. But my favorite is the raw, unvarnished you-ness.
Not sure what it is about these "preference" threads lately about appearance, but they give me the ick in general. Facial hair, makeup - at least so far we've been sticking with appearance choices rather than innate traits.
I just don't really like this trend in topic because it seems more dating oriented than platonic, and it reinforces the idea that you need to find your cuddle partner sexually or romantically attractive in order to be compatible. If more people embraced the actual platonic nature of cuddling and pushed themselves out of their comfort zone to cuddle people who do not at all look "attractive" to them, they might be surprised by the outcome. It'd also help with the gender imbalance as men would have a whole lot more available partners if they were open to cuddling other men even if straight.
@cuddlefaery I think after the breathing thread was sunk that every other topic became fair game lol 😂
@cuddlefaery 100% agree I’ve brought this same thing up so many times. But since a high percentage of people are treating this as a “dating” site anyway, unfortunately they’re choosing cuddlers based on looks. Anyway in general, isn’t this a non-issue, a non -question, an individual decision and imo, not anyone else’s decision for what to put on one’s own face? 😊
@cuddlefaery: yes, so much Ick. These reinforce stupid and dangerous cultural situations. They promote gender bias, etc, and also promote sexualization on an expressly non-sexual site.
And, as some posters on this thread have exemplified, they promote the politicization of individuals bodies and appearances.
Hm. Time to close the thread, I guess. That's it; we're done. There's no responding to this. What am I going to say? "I'm not choosing cuddle partners based on their makeup"? "I was just letting you guys get to know me"? Nobody will care what any of us have to say from this point onward.
@Hugginsworth I agree.
That's it; we're done. There's no responding to this. .... Nobody will care what any of us have to say from this point onward.
I'm curious why the defeatist attitude? And who said you in particular were were one of the ones choosing cuddle partners based on appearance? It might be worth examining why you are feeling particularly targeted when I, @carrieanne , and @natickben all expressed our views on the topic in general, and none of us tagged or otherwise singled out any one particular response.
@stormydaycuddle Thank you so much for posting those videos. I have never seen either one. They are so profound. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I don’t pay attention to this when cuddling.
@Hugginsworth my opinion is my opinion it's not an attack on you or meant to be taken personally . Sorry if you felt it was. I don't believe you have any ill will or intentions with the thread. It's just a topic that can be divisive and arouse strong feelings, so of course responses will vary. I'm not fond about discussing appearance on a forum where there are already so many people with emotional and self esteem issues . I could always simply not post my thoughts on it ,however this is a public forum on a public site that I happen to be a member of...
@bear - Neither do I. But a woman from this community explicitly asked men from this community about their preference.
Neither the OP’s question, nor the accompanying poll, asked about preferences in cuddle partners, romantic partners or anything other specific context. It was simply a general preference question asked of men on this site.
But the question was a trap because all decent people know it is just plain wrong for men to even have a preference on such matters and it is especially egregious and icky to share them, even when explicitly asked to do so by a woman.
@JohnR1972 ^^^^THIS
This thread was so interesting! Thanks for everyone's opinion!
Or… in a public format maybe it makes people feel inadequate one way or another and the choice of wether you respond or not which is up to you is a reflection of who you are good, bad, sideways, upside down… so while saying that I’m not going to get on anyone simply saying people see it. Next time DM the OP or be open to the fact that some may find it hurtful. And some might say something.
Edit: getting rid of potential fighting words though I didn’t see it that way.
I prefer not wearing makeup but I get told I look "tired" without it. So I usually wear a crayon highlighter (similar to eyeshadow) in silver or brown and some powder on my face. I try not to wear much make-up when I get together to cuddle, as I don't want it to smear on their clothes.
Less is more for sure.
I really hate it when a pro tells me they prefer I wear makeup. And there really is nothing in Forever 21 to set it off properly.
Edit: … I don’t think the comment was mean but I don’t want to make this militant in case someone else sees it that way.
@BoomerSpooner have you tried Stitch Fix or Wantable?
@stormydaycuddle it's always amusing how predictably some will read themselves in.
If you (general) aren't doing the thing, you don't need to get offended and protest your innocence when you weren't even accused. All that accomplishes is show us that either a) you actually ARE doing the thing, b) you subconsciously worry you're doing the thing and need to do some unpacking, c) you're feeling guilty about something else and are projecting, and/or d) you need to work on your reading comprehension skills.
When I made my critical comment, I explicitly included the discussion on men's appearance as well, as this isn't a men vs. women issue. (Full disclosure: I did comment on the facial hair thread, but from a tactile perspective rather than visual aesthetics)
@stormydaycuddle Thanks for the tip. I found an adorable pencil skirt and black heels.
I personally go through most of my day with a green face mask cus pores so if you dig green goblins I'm here for you
the question was a trap
Muahahaha!
Off with everyone's head!
Its the heavy drag queen look that spoiled the game
