Random profile visits?

[Deleted User]MrE88 (deleted user)

Morning everyone, I hope you're all doing okay. Bit of a random question, does anyone else seem to be getting people visiting/looking at your profile who are located either hundreds of miles away in your own country, or even stranger still, from people/profiles in other countries?

Good Morning @MrP82 🌞 First of all , you have really interesting pictures on your profile πŸ‘ So I can see peeps just wanting to visit your profile for that reason! 😊

Been here a bit and I reach out and visit many of the members here. Even yours now lol😊 The visitors tab I believe shows the most recent 20 visitors to our own profile and it also shows the 20 most recent visited profiles we all visited. Its kinda neat to see and wonder why people do this.

Some will say its because you post something on the forums, some might say its because you are a friend of a profile they visited, or a karma was read about you. Maybe they are getting ready to visit your area and want to see members in that area. Maybe it was an accidental click even. Lots of reasons I suppose and hopefully others here will share more reasons.

I was just having a conversation with another member sorta about this topic yesterday and.... Lets see, My current visitor list has 3 countries listed and approx a dozen US States. And for transparency , It looks like on my visited list, I have visited CC members in two countries and again like a dozen US States. I personally don't consider it strange rather I think it's exciting to see some level of interest in meeting peeps here !

For me I'm interested in meeting the members here and I can't think of how other to start that process then first visiting their profiles. But this is just me yapping and I'm sure there are plenty of reasons this happens that I haven't even thought of yet.

Best wishes on your cuddle journey here and have a super duper day! 🌞

  • I get visits and messages from other States and Countries. Since I live near San Francisco, I have some messages from people who want a cuddle when they are in town.
Other times people are just looking.

  • I have visited people who are recently online and have interesting profile names or pictures. I have visited people that have interesting forum comments. I have accidentally visited hitting the screen on the phone. It varies.

I also have people visit me out of the blue.

Thanks for all your comments, I do the same sometimes @Bear, so I get what you mean. I'd say a good percentage of the people checking out my profile must be for the same reason, especially the ones who don't live in the UK.

  • I’m always interested in seeing who cuddles in other areas so I am definitely one of those who looks at profiles from places far away from home

I'll admit to accidentally viewing recently online profiles because my mobile scrolling game is awful. And often hit the username instead of the thread title πŸ˜‚ ironically did that just now.

I get a lot of visits from people in Canada and the UK because my thumbnail says "Windsor" and there are Windsors in both those places. I find I do the same, clicking on people whose towns match town names near where I live.

I was just about to say @WriterGF, I'll check profiles sometimes with a place name I know, to find that it's one in another country.

  • Well, I wanted to know your Star Fleet rank and I couldn’t tell from the small photo. :)

  • First of all, how'd you expect me to pass a look at the starship enterprise. Be less interesting/intriguing next time, Geesh.

I look at as many as I can. Especially if the photo tips my interest. Gender and location may not be relevant in these circumstances. Must be good for website traffic, I don't know if they can measure that, number of profile visits per country per day? Definitely a good thing though. I sometimes look to see what they've written and compare it to my own profile.

Thanks for that @ShaneSchrute and @BashfulLoner, that was partly done to see if anyone who wanted to cuddle also liked Trek, so we had something in common to talk about.

  • I get random visits. I do the same. Maybe a interesting name or picture catches my eye. Sometimes there's a city that is in California, but also in another state.

I just like reading profiles, and when people visit mine I don't read too much (or anything, really) into it as an enthusiast.

That's me though. To each their own. :)

To the OP, I went to yours because a. I didn't know you existed until I saw this thread and I was curious. b. The Star Fleet uniform.

    take care,

    Kate

  • I may look at someone’s profile if I’ve seen them in the forums or if they’re in another location that I may be visiting.

  • The only thing that makes me do a double-take when people visit my profile, is when it's several people in a row from the same location, unassociated with my locations. It makes me wonder what the algorithm is doing. πŸ€”

For instance, if I'm in Wyoming and I'm soon traveling to Florida, I have both locations listed, but randomly I have three people from Pennsylvania view my profile.

  • If you post on the forums or are online a lot, you're more likely to get random profile visits.

I may visit a profile as a geographic lesson, forum participation, or if I think the person is hot

  • @MrP82 Resistance to looking at my profile is futile.

  • I frequently view profiles that are features on the homepage, out of curiosity if nothing else. I have no idea how those profiles are selected by the site. @MrP82 the profile views you're getting could be as simple as this

  • @MrP82
Then don't post such bitchin pics . You're basically begging all sci Fi nerds regardless of location to visit your profile

You're basically begging all sci Fi nerds regardless of location to visit your profile

    Lol, pretty much! 😁

  • I wanted to see your star trek uniform just now. When I am on mobile I totally click random people as I scroll too. Or clicking names when I want to get a thread.

  • It's been pretty easy for me to determine why most people have visited my profile due to patterns I can see. There seem to be 3 main reasons:

    1. I posted something to the forum and random people check out my profile.
    2. I visited the profile of a local enthusiast or pro that I might consider contacting and they saw my visit and visited me back.
    3. I left karma for someone and people looking at her profile then come and look at mine. (This is generally men who are local to me that I've had no direct interaction with)

One random weird thing I noticed: In a previous thread someone (well known enthusiast on the forums) quoted from my profile, but my visitors tab never showed her. I know that her profile is muted (so she doesn't show up in search and you can't initiate a conversation with her), so I don't know if that's maybe why she didn't show up in the list.

  • I click on the profiles that are online to see who actually frequents CC

People and their little carvings in the woods
Near and far, are interesting to me.

I think I too clicked on your profile because you were actually online and of course, the uniform! πŸ––πŸΎβœ¨οΈ

I will definitely get lured in if you have a pet/animal in your Pic

    ClickityClick πŸ˜†

  • @Achterbahn That is interesting. If your profile is not set to members-only, she could have visited it while logged off.

I have seen profile views disappear, I believe when the person gets banned.

  • @SunsetSnuggles I have my profile set to not be visible to non-members, and if sillysassy ever gets banned I would fall off my chair.

But, yes, I've also seen banned members disappear from the visitors list.

  • @Achterbahn πŸ˜… Indeed. I don't think it's the muted bit though, because I recently had a muted friend message me a couple times and he showed up in my visitors list.

  • @SunsetSnuggles Yeah, hard to say. Could be just a random glitch. In my work life I've spent hours tracking down weird bugs in software that end up being something like: this feature breaks if the number of seconds at the current time is evenly divisible by 17. (Not that specific thing of course, but things equally weird)
