Has anyone found reclining loveseats in a theater that were great for cuddling? I've tried a few now and have yet to find any that recline far enough, and that the armrest gets totally out of the way. π€
My local theater has certain auditoriums that have PTX luxury seating and the armrests do go back for space in between cuddles. I had to call the theater office to clarify which reclining seats work best without the armrest getting in the way. I love movie cuddles!
"Well" is subjective. One of my clients was a theater cuddle. The arm moved out of the way and I brought a towel to sit on the metal part between the seats to get close enough to him. Not the most comfortable, but we made it work. He was on the larger side, otherwise we might've fit in the same seat cuz the theater we went to had larger seats.
AMC. π Arm rest goes up, both plush recliners go back, it's lovely.

Theater near me has cuddle love seats right up front. Doesn't recline , but it's definitely big enough to lay back with 3 people an cuddle. I think they rent blankets as well. Only been on it with my kids but I'd definitely do a cuddle at the movie
Most of the theaters here in So Cal are that way now. Some are better than others.
@Auroradream - interesting. Looks like the closest Phoenix theater to me is probably 8-10 hours away But I'll have to keep that in mind.
@FriendlyFemale - yeah, that sounds about like the ones I've tried.
@SunsetSnuggles - as FriendlyFemale said, "well" is subjective. I'm glad you can get comfortable in those. But that one in your picture is exactly the type that I don't love I don't understand why on earth they make these recliners that go back a certain distance (albeit not as far as I wish) but then didn't build the armrest to go back as far.
@BashfulLoner - that sounds interesting. At least it doesn't have the armrest issue.
@donhulio Hmm, I never noticed that. Maybe it's the way I cuddle? I usually snuggle up on the guy's chest (the half-spoon), so maybe I duck past the armrest? I've also turned a bit sideways and put my legs over their lap. They have turned completely sideways, laid their head on my legs, and fallen asleep while I stroke their hair. I've also just held hands or laced arms.
Maybe it could be a height thing? π€ I'm 5'4". But I've cuddled in those kinds of recliners with buddies of various heights. I dunno! π
Hopefully you can find a position or a theater set-up that works for you!
Movie theaters should just face facts that they are terrible places to watch movies (90% of the time someone is talking or on their glowing phones.) I wait and watch movies on streamer in perfect silence in a room thatβs perfectly appointed for me. Ahh.
So the movie theaters should pivot and cater to cuddle buddies instead of pretending itβs enjoyable to watch movies in there.
The OP needs a place like the photo below (they have them NYC; Iβm not sure where else)
WOW-This is taking Luxury Movies to a new level- If that's what this is.
Are we sure there is even a screen in this room?
@ShaneSchrute That looks lovely, but I'd worry what kinds of movies are shown and what's been done in a joint like that. π¬π«£π
Here are the seats i was talking about. They have recliners up top.
Who goes to the movies and loves standing? Not me. I love sitting in a seat. I only will cuddle with the popcorn though.
@SunsetSnuggles, well, those position ideas are some interesting ones to try. I've mostly gravitated turning on my side and intertwining legs and wrapping my arms around them - something of a reverse half spoon, I suppose. It helps to only lean the seats back as far as the armrest goes. (But then you're not leaned very far back at all lol.)
If you're ever in the Portland, OR area there is a fantastic theater with what you're looking for called Studio One.
Do drive in theaters still exist?
@MissAdventurous I just looked that place up and oh my goodness that looks amazing
@dennis22554 yes they do. Not as widespread as I'm told they used to be, though.
I have one 15 mins from me

This is very cool. I just found an IPIC near me thanks for the lead @FriendlyFemale. @BashfulLoner what chain is that movie theatre? Great thread @donhulio !!
