Appreciation of Genuine People

There have been several posts focusing on the best cuddler, karma, etc and I respect individuals who receive positive recognition …. It is well deserved and they should be proud! But, when judging a member as the best in a particular, I think one important metric is being overlooked. Is the member truly genuine? I’ve noted in the forums, on more than one occasion, there are members that are “wolves in sheep's clothing” that will say all the right things to fit into a forum discussion but, in real life they are nothing like the image they portray in the forums. Having the most in one category doesn’t always reflect a complete picture!

I actually think CC has a metric that is under utilized when it comes to judging, FRIENDS. Not every cuddle session results in friendship, but when they do it's something special! The number of KARMA comments a person collects is misleading in some cases because the category doesn’t use weighted metrics. For example, is a CC member that only has a few karma comments because she/he only books a few repeat clients any less special than one that has 200 comments–I’m not so sure. I have a enthusiast friend who has zero karma comments and only one friend that is one of the most special people on the planet, pours her passion in very selectively, if she were a professional she could easily have hundreds of karma comments as a professional, but is shy and it’s a path she didn’t want to choose.

Once again, my post is not intended to take away the special recognition of those members who have hundreds of positive comments–they are truly special people. It’s just food for thought when judging fellow members. I think every professional member on the site deserves recognition for the self sacrifice they display just being on the site. I completely understand that CC is a business—and not a friendship or dating platform but it's really nice when you can encounter someone on the site forming a platonic friendship or something more. CC is a site where many genuine people reside, and it’s really nice when you encounter one. Your thoughts?

  • I don't think there's any metric for measuring how genuine a person is. Just that, over time, people will always show who they truly are. In some cases, this will turn out to be who they first appeared to be. In others, you'll find out that their first appearance was a defensive mask, and then there's those who put on a mask of being good. In my experience, you eventually start to recognize which mask is which.

  • I think any thread trying to find the "best" person in any category is on a fool's errand. Everyone has different taste, so no one would ever agree on such a thing. And if they did, it would only serve to make everyone else feel less-than. No one needs a popularity contest.

Regarding friends, most Pro/client relationships are never meant to result in a friendship...if it were, it wouldn't be paid time. That's one reason being a Pro doesn't appeal to me. I'm here to get to know people from all over the world and make friends: 👫🏻🌮🧋🌳🎡🚲🪼🌇🎟🃏🎨🎶📩👩🏻‍🤝‍👩🏼
If that leads to cuddles, lovely! I wouldn't want to cuddle someone who paid me, who I had no genuine desire to spend time with.

You are 100% right; the number of Karma someone has should not be the only, or the biggest, factor in determining anyone's "value", skill as a Pro, odds of being a wonderful friend, etc.

Karma says one thing: "I have met people." It doesn't even mean "in person", frankly, because people leave Karma for virtual sessions all the time. I've seen people with six 5-star Karma's who no one has so much as shaken hands with, because they were all virtual sessions.

Some people appear to run around the country tapping every meet and greet they can, gathering up two-minute "Hey how are you's" so they can attempt to get Karma out of it. If you haven't actually cuddled the person or spent at least the time it takes to sit down and chat over a cup of coffee, are you really qualified to give them Karma? 🤔 Do you really want to put your name on someone you've barely brushed elbows and exchanged pleasantries with? Food for thought.

I'm also not trying to diminish Karma in general, because it can be one of the useful tools in determining the identity, vibe, etc. of a person. I absolutely love writing Karma for my cuddle friends, and take the responsibility of reflecting a truthful account very seriously. And it means a lot to hear feedback from the people I've spent time with.

But as noted by the OP, some of the most wonderful people on the site have zero or very few Karma. A lot of Pro's won't meet with those cuddlers, or they have special criteria for them to meet (ID, deposit, etc.). But we all started with no Karma, and the lack thereof could be due to many, many factors...shyness, as the OP mentioned, social anxiety, deactivating for awhile, asking people not to leave Karma, meeting people through other avenues who don't even know about this site, etc. etc.

Anyway, as has been discussed many times...Karma is one of many useful tools...it is not the almighty one.

You mentioned that there are members here who project one image but are different in real life. I'm curious if this is from personal experience, or hearsay? I have absolutely zero doubt that people are like this...in fact I know so, from personal experience...I'm just curious.

  • That's a really great post, @SunsetSnuggles .

I know you've brought the topic up before, but this commentary on karma and value is really, really good.

  • @dennis22554 Yep, you actually don’t really know a person until you actually met them and get to know them. Just reading typed out text leaves out their energy and personality.

  • @SunsetSnuggles you should add this thread URL to your profile. Your reply was phenomenal.

"Genuine" isn't always indicative of a positive trait. There's a reason for the term, "genuine a-hole." LOL
In my excessive vanity, I don't wish to be rated. I have written only one karma here after a cuddle, and it was by request. He was genuine with me as was his cuddling. Friendship was established. (We had a second cuddle and he was still genuine.)
Chatting with people here has formed many different types of friendships for me, not all center on cuddling (due to distance.)
I have met a few people for coffee or chatted over Zoom, it wasn't cuddling and IMO shouldn't be treated as such for reviews. Those connections aren't genuine to the cuddling intent of this site.

  • I'm thinking about changing my nickname. I like "GenuineA--hole"! Do you think it could be easily flagged?
