Does an apology really need to say, "I'm sorry" or "I apologize"?
Are these apologies:
I'm sorry if I hurt/offended you.
I'm sorry but in my defense, you hurt/offended me.
Forgive me for my delay.
I'm sorry but I didn't mean to hurt/offend you.
I know several people who purposely avoid apologizing and when caught, claim it's more important to be gracious ("Thank you for being so patient") than give a hollow "I'm sorry for being late".
