Cuddle party

Hey all! If you could attend a non monetized cuddle party what would the best version of that look like? Location, indoor, outdoor, time, duration, props like pillows, blankets, hammocks, focus on consent, music, watching a movie, ect ect??? I'd love to host something like this and am just interested in how these types are going and how they could go. All input is welcome. 💖✌️😊

    I think a nice stargazing and music session would be amazing or even an out door movie with blankets, hot cocoa, etc
    Great discussion topic! 😊

  • @Nature_Lover_
    If it involves you then that is good enough for me 🤗

  • My fantasy cuddle party is in the Lovesac store after hours. All of those giant furry beanbag chairs and couches and pads all over the place, with some soft jazz playing, after a nice warmup of some consent and boundaries talk and roleplaying and ice breaking. If we could add in a crackling fireplace I would be on Cloud 9.

  • The best outdoors one to me would be in a field full of fireflies. Dunno about best indoors.

    And with someone there who likes giving me massages.

  • If it’s not cold it would be nice.

  • Ooh, I would love to cuddle in a hammock, even with more than once person.
    BTW, the reason most cuddle parties are monetized is because large spaces for them usually need to be rented and the people who throw them are (hopefully) well trained to keep a safe container for any problems that may come up hosting an intimate gathering of size.

  • Inside one of those indoor colorful ball pits that the kids play in or something similar. There would be pizza for everyone to eat just like a bday party.

  • It needs variety! Hammocks for those types. Futons and couches. Maybe a hot tub. And of course grappling mats for the competitive cuddlers!

    But really you probably just need space and soft surfaces. One area for people that want to do the cuddling to do their thing and another just social area. Calm music would probably be appreciated. All other amenities are probably just dressing.

    On the part about focus on consent, you need clear rules on what is allowed and you probably want to have some people there in a moderator/bouncer type of role. Even though it's just cuddling shit can hit the fan and you need people who know how to deal with said shit.

    @pmvines ? 😜🤪

    @Muggle_Mike

    And of course grappling mats for the competitive cuddlers!

    I have to ask ......... what is competitive cuddling?

  • @GuyverGordon In my head it's wrestling lol just being a goof there.

  • Got it ... so then this would be a competitive cuddle puddle:

    🤪

  • King of the puddle!

  • A warm mountain lodge with a wood burning fireplace. Hot cocoa & everyone brings some munchies. Comfy sofas and double chairs.

  • I prefer the afternoon but a hug is a hug. I'll take it however I can get it. I'd love to attend.

    And some way using art to document an event in a fun way...

    If such creative options work in the planning, on occasion I do caricatures professionally, In my experience, the chance to add some creative energy to the process in a positive way makes it long lasting and worthwhile, and something folks can take with them.

  • Sorry for the delayed response! I love the idea of stargazing, outdoor cuddles, a variety of different cuddle spaces or options, having a craft or take away from a cuddle event, and and especially love the idea of incorporating consent and rules or boundaries.

    There was talk in the past of hosting this type of gathering in the Nashville area it's something I'd love to see happen in the future. Thanks again for everyone's ideas, thoughts and feedback!!

    Hosting a cuddle party is MUCH more difficult than you imagine because such events bring up suppressed emotions. You MUST have a plan to deal with bad actors - which are common at such events - and suffiencient resources to deal with at least two emotional crises simultaneously.

    For example I have seen people leave in tears before the event even properly started, been the subject of entirely invented and serious allegations, and a number of other incidents and I've only been to about six such occasions. DO NOT attempt to host such an event unless you have sufficient training and helpers. To do so is sheer cruelty, preying on the vulnerable.

    Creating such an event seems like such a lovely thing to do, and it is. But if you don't genuinely know what you are doing you are a child playing with matches and dynamite.

    Being an established professional with lots of Karma is a fabulous start - more than a start - but it's not the whole story.

  • Hugging is fraught with such unfortunate complications these days.

    There have been half a dozen or so cuddle meetups in the past couple yrs hosted and organized by people on the site. I've been to several and they were all lovely and low key and no pressure to cuddle etc at all. Mind you these are meet and greet not necessarily cuddle parties..It's not really that deep. The organizers and attendees had good intentions and there was minimal drama other than the typical things you might encounter with social situations. They have all been really pleasant and the premise is to meet and greet and if you want to go cuddle it's up to you. There was absolutely zero "cruelty and preying upon the vulnerable". How dramatic.

  • That's a relief!

    Glad to hear that cuddle parties aren't actually the trauma-inducing, radioactive meltdown they were being portrayed as.

  • I’ve been to different such events. Some had couches or a bed. As well as love seats. A lot of times there were blankets on the floor. If you’re going to do this multiple times, gymnastic pads are such underneath. The blankets are great for making it feel nicer.

    An area for like some finger foods or snacks and water. If possible, a small social area for those who take a break or such.
    Some people like to change into Cuddle clothes. So making sure there is a clean washroom and maybe changing area.

    Someone to help facilitate. Or somebody that has done something like this to help you.

    With the situation, some people have actually come to tears in regards to positivity or such. So making sure that you or somebody can hold space.

    I talk about consent and such. There’s a great video I saw where they equate having tea with consent. Tea is consent, I think.

    If everybody doesn’t know everybody else, possibly name tags or such. With personal pronouns if needed.

    Hahahaha!!! Hey, @GuyverGordon ~ WHY DOES THAT LOOK LIKE SOOOO MUCH FUN??? lolol

    Cool gif!!! hahahaha!! Maybe I ought to keep some thoughts to myself! lolol

  • @Nature_Lover_ I will definitely help you! I have a friend who is a cuddle party facilitator She knows the rules may be if I can get a hold of her she'd be interested in helping you.

  • @CuddleDuncan to be clear, I am not carelessly nor maliciously planning a cuddle event to prey upon vulnerable people but actually just having an open and curious conversation about what kind of gatherings / experiences might appeal to people. I do agree that encouraging proximity, physically and emotionally can present risks, certainly when consent, boundaries rules and anticipation of possible scenarios are not considered. I also love that you are so knowledgeable, experienced and open to speaking up from a place of concern. Just to assure you further, I am not facilitating any type of gathering, party, ect, but encouraging open, free conversation around a community topic.

    @pmvines I agree, my experiences within social cuddle/ meet ups / gatherings have exceeded my wildest expectations. Such gatherings enabled me to connect on deep and meaningful levels with incredible people I am grateful to still be friends with 💖

    @Bear yes! I've also witnessed tears from joy and positive emotions during and following cuddle gatherings. Also, consent tea is gold!

    @TxTom you crack me up ! 😂

  • @KozyKim 🤗🤗🤗🤗 love your image you shared there! That's what I'm talking about. One on one or even double cuddles with three people are incredible spaces to relax, decompress, and give and receive platonic touch but cuddle gatherings are something magical on their own. A whole different vibe and I love all the ideas and things everyone shared. I'm not planning any type of gathering or meet up but if someone else did I'd love to help if possible. There was a couple of people a while back in the Nashville area looking to start a monthly kind of get together focused on safe platonic touch and connection. The plans fizzled out but it had sparked my interest for sure.

  • @Nature_Lover_
    Yup, I mean it's enabled you and I to boop snoots a couple times and we both walked away unharmed

    I’m thinking of some thing that is real chill and cool. Maybe if it was an ongoing thing everyone pretty much knows who is at the party so everyone could be chill with one another and certain individuals like to cuddle with others. I picture a huge house with huge beanbag chairs that could be roomy enough. Someone mentioned bean bag chairs earlier. They make them big enough for four people to lay in. I picture multiple bean bag chairs throughout a huge room, maybe multiple rooms. Maybe there were drinks and food being served. Low lighting, low music. I want to grab one of the big bean bag chairs for myself and then if someone wants to cuddle, they could just come over and lay with me. Being able to get everyone on the same page and to make it work would be a totally different story.

  • @JackNJ what a picture you've just created in my mind! I also love the idea of a re occurring thing. Something to kind of look forward to and really savor in the moment. We can call it cuddle club 🤪. Once every other month at an air bnb. Totally spitballing here / half way joking and halfway serious.
