Cuddle Enthusiasts: Friends or Appointments?

edited December 2024 in General

In the past year or so that I've been on CC I've met several different kinds of cuddle enthusiasts, and I'm curious which ones are the most common 🤔

There's the "Friends" type, which is where I land, that see cuddling is part of building a friendship. We tend to be fairly chatty, but comfortable with silence where it fits best, and generally tend to want to feel platonic emotional connection as well as just the physical contact of cuddling. This kind tends to feel a general sense of loneliness along with the usual touch starvation so common in our culture.

Then there's what I like to call "Appointments" type, that tend to view cuddling kinda like stopping at a gas station. You meet and cuddle, often with very little conversation or much deep relaxation, you just curl up together, usually for an hour on the dot then pop right back up, schedule the next "appointment" and head out. This kind tends to really just need the physical contact, but is otherwise satisfied with their social lives as is.

Which one are you? Or would you say you're in a different category altogether?

I'm definitely the "must be friends" type. Being platonic is a blessing and relief. It's important to me to build a foundation and establish trust. I tend to check in/text regularly with my cuddle buddies, "just because."
    Just because they matter.
Cuddling helps calm me (my brain doesn't like to shut down), mentally, physically, and emotionally. I love hanging out with someone for hours (as friends), doing activities, chatting freely and cuddling without constant clock-watching.

  • @starrynitecuds Exactly! I definitely get that for some people the emphasis being on just physical touch is a perfect fit for them, but for me the physical closeness just gets better and better with friends than it does with strangers. I can relax much more, plus it's such a blast just spending time with people you value and enjoy being around. Without building that platonic intimacy I end up feeling a bit hollow and tense when the cuddle meetup is over, like I have to "perform" somehow, shut off a natural part of myself to try not to offend them by giving a shit, and that's simply not me or what I'm looking for 🤷🏼☺️

  • I thought when I came here I would be the appointment type, or something like it. And I probably was since I was nervous about the whole thing, and naturally reserved.

I quickly realized that that left me feeling…. Not hollow, maybe incomplete is a better term. I started to allow myself to engage in real conversation, and to be open to friendship, it felt much better. I consider myself much more in the friendship category now.

I do run across those that want to keep things strictly “appointment-like” and I let them, but I’ll cherish the ones that are becoming friends.

Ideally, I'd be delighted with a really wonderful single session with a cuddler, respecting the fact that we all have real lives outside of servicing our oxytocin needs! lol

However, after two or three repeat sessions, I'd enjoy building genuine friendships with people who enjoyed my company as much as I enjoyed theirs--especially if we ended up having shared interests that we could all participate in!!! But respect is a big thing, for me, and I would play it by ear on whether or not we'd have a one-off cuddle session or explore the possibility of becoming long-term friends..

    I can't wait for Spring!!! :) <<<You know who you are!! :)

  • I do whichever the other person is most comfortable with. I can talk for hours or sit in silence. Personal preference is talking though. I love a good chat. People could probably tell from my karma😂

  • I am more of a friend type enthusiast. Also, what a bit of caretaker. I like to talk unless I pick up that somebody has an acre or such and then I’ll ask if they wanna Massage. When I do that, I’m more quiet cause I’m focusing on Relieving the issue.

  • I aim to be the friend type.

  • Friend type who occasionally would like some accompaniment to the gas station

  • I don't like transactional type relationships unless it involves money. Even with a transactional relationship, I prefer it to be pleasant - I'm not a stone.

  • I've been satisfied with the appointment type when in need, actually that's more of what I've been accustomed. But I've had one where i felt like a friendship was developing, not really sure if she was having that type of attachment to me or our time. She is definitely present as if there is a friendship so it's a great feeling. But i get the feeling she is more of the appointment type, while present during, absent outside of that. It's an odd feeling because i know what it is but i do sometimes want to text just because and don't want to be rejected from a non responsive person. But i don't want to push that because im sure it'd be unappealing to me if someone was bothering me with small talk and i didn't really want it. So maybe I'll find out one day, but until then I'll have to accept appointments and that's that. The whole thought is why i don't prefer transactional cuddles, because cuddles last longer than appointments and are desired before scheduling.

  • I am not at all interested in anything that feels like an "appointment". If I was, I'd be a Pro. I've always been here for genuine connection.

My cuddles or interactions usually have a limited timespan, but that's because they always happen during travel so I'm always running against the clock. But within whatever time I have, be that an hour and a half, or twelve hours, I'm fully present and love to engage in quality time. 😊

  • I would say I fall in the friends category. I like being able to talk with them about anything. There was one that we stayed in contact regularly and talked, or even stayed quiet during while we were cuddling. She and I used to cuddle, and she enjoyed having me over at her place so we could cuddle and a lot of times I would fall asleep because I was working almost 70 hours a week so she would leave me be if we were done cuddling and she would go about her business within her home if it be straightening or doing whatever it is that she needed to be doing and leave me sleep. I think she just liked the idea of having someone there physically as she was single, but she had no interest in a relationship. She said, if I ever needed to get away from my home life, and I needed a place to take a nap, even if I wasn’t in the mood to cuddle that her place would always be open to me and that she could just be doing whatever. I enjoyed and appreciated her for that. She was also up for us doing other things like meeting to have a coffee or taking a drive to the shore area. It was nice having an arrangement like that. She ended up moving out of state for her job and then we slowly lost touch with one another. I hope she is doing well.

I am here for the care and compassion of other humans. I’ve been blessed to meet some wonderful folks who enjoy hanging out for drinks or a movie and then snuggling together while talking or even napping. I enjoy these people that I get to express care for and would not want to be treated like a dentist or an accountant.

  • Truth be told, it depends on the person and it really makes no difference if they are a pro or enthusiast. I have pros that I call a friend and I have cuddled with a couple of enthusiasts (not the ones in my karma) that I would never see again in a million years. Chemistry is not just for the lab or romance, it exists in numerous forms in a plethora of relational dynamics.

  • @TheFunCartel Facts, indisputable facts.
Personally I'm of the opinion that you can never "say the wrong thing" (aka destroy a connection by being your honest self) to the right people, and I think the main reason for that is chemistry. No matter what kind of connection it is, if you feel a natural affinity with someone it will always make the relationship better. 🤷🏼
It doesn't matter what that affinity looks like, all that matters is that you and the other person are perfectly comfortable on the same page.

@Runawaycuddles Most of my connections end up being the “friends type” of here. If someone shows me “appointments type”energy I adapt easily and respect their boundaries.

  • @SuperManCuddles I'm glad that flows so well for you!

  • Friends for sure, regardless if they are a pro or enthusiast.

  • @Runawaycuddles Thank you, me too! @CharlieBear Awesome 😎🎉
