Hi, I am trying to figure out how to create a nice cuddling environment for my cuddle friends when they come over. Would love some ideas on what people have loved in other cuddle environments.
I highly recommend a pillow fort lol
Have a space for snacks, drinks, and breath mints.
@jmdank - wow where is that set up? that looks really sweet but I wonder about beinga ble to breathe. @CharlesGrove - thanks you
Mine is pretty simple as I just have some speakers and a galaxy projector. I have blankets if they need. I also offer water/canned flavored sparkling water (something sealed so it’s obvious nothing has been tampered with - a weird thing to have to consider but it is unsafe out there).
Body pillows, blankets and nature sounds
In the past, I’ve gone to a lot of Cuddle parties. Most of the time it was in the front room. Padding for the floor underneath the blankets is always very nice. Somewhere to sit next to a person helps. Also a separate area for snacks and such. With a way to Relax and chat with other people who are there. I’ve also seen places that had mood lighting. Stuff like a projection lamp to netting with cotton and lights that look like clouds in the sky.
I’ve read here about how much effort some people have invested in crafting a perfect environment for cuddles. I certainly appreciate how much personal investment has been made. But I’m going to offer a contrasting viewpoint as an enthusiast or a client, whatever your preferred term.
For me personally, some of it has had some appeal, but as I’ve had the opportunity to cuddle with people, I’ve come to realize that very little of that had any bearing on the experience.
The critical and defining element of the “ambiance” is the person. The environment only matters to me as an extension of how that person has made that space their own, and conveyed who they are through it. Let me give some examples: a painting that speaks to them, a photo they’ve taken on a past trip, a warm and fuzzy blanket that soothes them and makes them comfortable enough to offer comfort to others.
That being said, some of my best experiences cuddling have been with people who took no special efforts with the environment; they simply made the cuddling and forging of a personal connection with me their priority.
Everything else was details of varying impact.
@zoeloveshugs - how do the body pillows work in... I wonder if they would get in the way. And do you have only light blankets? Love the nature sounds. @Bear - for the cuddle parties, it was all blankets on the carpet? That's interesting to hear.
@lovingspoonfull nailed it. The environment is totally secondary as long as it is clean. The person is what really matters. I have had a couple of cuddlers whose house I went to (I almost always host) and they had a spectacular set up with lights and pillows and snacks and scents but the session was underwhelming because they themselves lacked a personality.
@TheFunCartel - what kinds of scents and did you find them to be nice or unpleasant
Here's my Tiny Cuddle House. The floor is a foam mattress I've cut to shape, and then covered with electric blankets (stitched together, driven from 12V). There's a galaxy projector, plus a scent diffuser (that I haven't used much so far). I think it needs more pillows/blankets for blanket-fort purposes, especially looking at the picture above!

@Curvynaps the ones I had gone to had hardwood floors. As well as a couch and a bed and one or two comfy chairs.
@ArdeaCinerea - omg PHENOMENAL!!! I don't have space for this, but soo special!!
I’d rather cuddle in a space that has got it going on like it’s 80’s night at the roller rink or bowling alley as opposed to some boring bed in some hotel (when it’s the same cuddler and our connection is already established), but that’s just me 😅
@CharlieBear You and me, SkateCity, oh it's gonna happen. 😈

A curtain of lights and a projector, it’s enough to get to outer space 😂
@SunsetSnuggles Haha oh my gosh yes I have not been skating in quite some time and that would be awesome ☺️
@ThetaKitty - the lights are AMAZING!! Inspired!
@Curvynaps Vanilla lavender was the scent but she asked me what scents I like so points for that. The problem wasn’t the space, it was the person. You ever had a conversation and the other person’s entire contribution is a consistent “yeah”.
It’s like Chinese water torture with the the persistent drip-drip-drip
@TheFunCartel - yeah
LMAO, thanks for the context. I like the idea of scents but some are so sensitive. but like the idea.
Oooh I’m inspired now! Gonna create a Pinterest vision board for cuddling! 👏🤩
@CozyCudy - oooh pls share when done if you are comfortable w that
Oh my goodness! Such great ideas. Definitely gonna have to put me something together.
Nearly all of my cuddles take place out of state, so me "hosting" involves finding the prettiest park with the nicest water feature, half-way between me and my cuddle buddy, and bringing all necessary gear for a comfy, cozy outdoor cuddle. 🌳🐦🪻
Some of my previous outdoor cuddle spaces are shown, here...

@SunsetSnuggles - how do you stay warm. Out here California can be surprisingly chilly even on a sunny day. What is in your outdoor gear kit?
I’m pretty new to the cuddle community and am reminded again with this discussion what lovely souls y’all are. 🌎 Inherent in all of this is your thoughtful care for creating & nurturing meaningful memorable moments. Kindness. I mean, just reading this thread feels cozy! 😊🐨🪐
@greene1 - yeah totally! I'm loving this thread too!
@Curvynaps For parks and beaches, I have a water-resistant sand mat, in case the grass or sand is damp. Then I lay a water-resistant picnic blanket on top of that, fuzzy side up. I have a body pillow that I put down so we both share it and no one falls into a pillow pit. 😆 We sit or lay down on that set-up, usually in some lush grass, under a shade tree, listening to the birds sing. 🐦 I have a second water-resistant picnic blanket for on top, or a large, very soft and cozy blanket. Most days, there's no need for a top blanket at all, even under the shade of a tree.
If it does get too cold, or too hot, the back seats of my SUV fold down completely flat, I put a plastic tablecloth over the cargo area, and I have a memory foam mattress topper that goes down next, followed by more blankets and pillows. We can run the heat or the A/C if needed, though with the hatch open to a pretty view, and the protection of the vehicle, that's often not necessary.
I absolutely love snuggling outside! My first two group cuddles were outside, and I very quickly got over any shyness or worrying what anyone might think. It's just a beautiful way to connect with my cuddle friends. I've done many park cuddles under pine trees, one in a flower garden, several beside secluded rivers, and even a sunset cuddle on the beach in Hawaii. 🌲🌷🏞 🌊 Being in nature just makes me feel more alive and happy.
sounds amazing... I might need to build a park kit
@Curvynaps Sure! Just give it a shot without spending too much money, first...some people aren't comfortable cuddling outdoors, engaging in platonic "PDA", or don't want to be around pollen, insects, etc. Thankfully, I've met a ton of compatible people who are happy to meet up outside! 🌄
