Just accept the transactional nature of both karma and cuddle sessions. It takes work to give you that biscuit, and you're getting it because you paid for it.
I think to effect change you need to have a solid alternative to offer and then present it to Mark. Forums are a fraction of a fraction of the member base and don't decide site policy.
Ok..but a single voice alone isn't going to drive change in most cases where as a set of forum voices can shape a viable solution which then could then be presented to the larger membership base
As far as I can tell, what you are advocating for is to no longer allow pros to leave karma. I think to do that, you would first need to change the mentality that says cuddlers with no karma at all are less appealing/safe/whatever. I base that on the number of times I have seen male enthusiasts told to hire pros in order to get karma before approaching female enthusiasts.
I can't speak to whether you would get pushback from pros on losing one of their rights here. They would have to speak to that.
@dennis22554 youre just another brick in the wall so you’re not going to bring about any change by yourself. The only way change would be considered is like if half the pros deleted their accounts and that’s never gonna happen
I'm saying that would eliminate retaliatory karma or at least reduce it.....also..it might reduce given karma that is given thst is not truly genuine. Just a side note..isn't at its core karmy mostly intended for pros that go out of their way to truly provide clients with a platonic remarkable cuddle session..maybe they should get the oatmeal cookies
Drat..im only a brick?
@dennis22554 on a good day
No matter what you do to the karma system it will remain one tool of several that should be factored into selecting and or agreeing to a cuddle session. Each person should consider giving the amount of weight to karma as they see appropriate.
I think the safety concerns for pros and enthusiasts outweigh any of the inefficiencies of the karma system. And retaliatory karma is a bummer, but I still need some way of knowing that people are safe before they're in my house. Even with positive karma, I have to field men asking me for all kinds of things and inappropriate messages. Without any review structure there is just no way I could have confidence in my safety.
As a pro, I would likely leave the site without this system in place. I can go to other sites that offer reviews.
@AlyLauren 💯 this.
I would not rely 💯 on karma when deciding who is safe to cuddle. IMO, it is one factor to be considered. Use your own thorough screening methods, intuition and life experience.
@AlyLauren .. its really sad that the current set up is the reality you and other hard working professionals face....maybe I am an unrealistic dreamer..but in my own way this post was an attempt to repay you and other dedicated pros in the angelic work you p
I think it's less about rewarding the client, and more of a means for cuddlers, pro and enthusiast alike, to keep each other safe. It is far less dangerous for a woman to meet with a guy who has twenty 5-star reviews than someone with no karma at all. It's not a perfect system, but for now it's the best we have.
If you want to effect change, start by becoming a Moderator.
IF you are accepted, then you can see the actual workings of the site, get some context for policy and repercussions, and a real idea of how much the moderators do to keep the site mostly functioning and mostly civil.
Until then, use the Suggestions for Improvement section, because aimless discussions that devolve into a flash bang of personal issues and snarky back and forth won’t change anything.
Thank you no no
Ignore the no no..not sure how that ended up in the message
@dennis22554 Pro tip: you can edit messages up to 24 hours after you post it. If you click the gear in the post you want to edit, "Edit message" should appear. (Just in case you were not aware)
Depending on the mood of my phone and how much it wants to join the message, I tend to edit a fair amount of mine 😄🙃
I had no idea I was eating dog biscuits all this time.
@RadiantHugs the recipe has come a long way since they’ve started 🐶
The question is: Does karma encourage good behavior or does it reflect good be behavior?
Same as with other things that connect people together like Uber, eBay, Airbnb, etc.
While I'm sure there are people who are motivated by karma/reviews, that's not the case for many of us.
I can say with 100% certainty that if the karma system went away, it would have no effect on how I treat the people I cuddle with. I treat cuddlers with respect and kindness because it's the right thing to do, not because I'm trying to earn good karma. If I take an Uber, I treat the driver with respect for the same reason, not because I'm trying to build a good rider rating.
If someone is only nice because they want to earn a biscuit...I mean karma, then taking that away from pros will just encourage those inclined to behave badly.
If someone is down on all fours begging for a treat, then sure, that karma might feel like a biscuit. But why put yourself in that position? On the other hand, if two people have a positive cuddle session and want to acknowledge each other, karma could simply be a way of reflecting that mutual exchange.
@dennis22554
It’s one of the few if not only vetting tools to use. What would you replace it with?
My issue is that pro or client can block each other, so it’s impossible to leave any kind of negative feedback. I had a bad experience with a pro and I was blocked immediately, so I had no way to respond to our experience. That’s all you have to do to avoid a bad karma. Just block them.
'If you're still alive. give them a 5. "
@Sooson This made me physically sick
@barn_owl You always have the option of filing a report with a mod.
Maybe a button for bad experiences..a seperate one from the karma button. I always tend to associate karma with good experiences
@barn_owl You can leave karma even if you've been blocked.
Milk-Bones aren't bad, actually.
It might be interesting to consider how pro reviews of clients might differ if they were not public, only viewable by other pros, and involved “rating” (stars) for 3-5 categories rather than one overall rating.
I suppose the same could be said for client reviews of pros, but it’s the former that I personally think is more important as it gets to very real issues around safety.
Also, since there do not appear to be a lot of bad karma reviews, a simple ratio of total cuddles booked to cuddles with karma could be interesting. Two enthusiasts with 10 cuddles each in total but one with 7 karma reviews and the other with zero karma reviews would be seen quite differently by pros, I should think.
This post should not be read as a recommendation. I’m not interested in debating or defending it. Just thinking out loud. Food for thought. Please spare me the (ad hominem) attacks. 🙂
