Toot that horn 🎉

This is inspired another thread. Here is the place where modesty is discouraged and only boasting and bragging is allowed.

  • I'm a million times as humble as thou art.

  • @xandriarain
I can't tell if you are trying to discourage me or encourage me. Are you being passive aggressive?

  • [Deleted User]WriterGF (deleted user)

@LexiLove25 99% sure it is not meant in a negative way. That's not X's style.

  • @WriterGF thank you for answering for her. I figured as I looked at her profile. But I had to make sure.

  • I’m tooting my horn.

    Happy birthday to me.

@LexiLove25 I’m a little too neurospicy to be that passive aggressive, I’m extremely literal. I really mean it please brag about your accomplishments. I just figured people in the other thread were being a little too modest for second-guessing themselves so here is the place to boast.

    Happy birthday @Bear 🥳

  • Just wanted to say that's a great term, neurospicy. Cheers for the honesty!

  • I started playing drums in school when I was 8. I learned the basics, but my school didn't teach drumset. So I bought one and taught myself as a senior. When I moved to my current location, I had the opportunity to play for a school production of Oklahoma, so I taught myself to read set music. Including the production I am doing now, I have been in 35 musicals playing drums and percussion, and i have been playing set for the community band for 15 years. I have played in several smaller bands over the years ranging from 70's southern rock, to jazz, to 90's punk. I love it all, as long as I have sticks in my hands.

I've been a hospice social worker for many years and have the honor of being a part of helping people to peacefully transition to their next phase

  • [Deleted User]WriterGF (deleted user)

I've had over 100 books published, including 11 NY Times best-sellers.

  • @xandriarain thank you for answering me and showing me patience amd grace in your answer! I appreciate your kindness!

  • I always want to tell people I have a song out but every time I plug myself, I always feel so egotistical 🥲🥲 so here I am touting the fact that I have a song out on all streaming platforms that I’m super proud of!

  • @WriterGF what are the books?
    @Sheena123 what is the song?

I, too, have a neurospicy brain but I'm much less ok with it than X is. That being said I'm in document control, making sure everything in our ERP system is up-to-date and writing work instructions (with LOTS of pictures) so that anyone off the street is capable of creating a quality product. A year ago I was finally able to say "I'm damn good at my job" and that's a pretty big accomplishment for someone who's had low self-esteem for 42 years!

  • @SquishyJackie my song is called Prayer in the Dark 😄 it’ll be under Sheena Anderson 🩷🩷🩷

  • Happy birthday, @Bear !!!

I second wanting to know the books @WriterGF and song @Sheena123 !!

My brag is about my kiddo. Started state exams this week and has them for the next few weeks and is taking it all in stride very well. Extra proud Momma, and we are taking a short trip to New Orleans over break to celebrate early.

  • @Sheena123

That's fantastic I'm so proud of you ! I know what a good singer you are from your karaoke! I have always admired people who could sing. I have fronted several death metal and hardcore style bands, but that's not singing lol

  • @pmvines I applaud you in your work. I spent some time in nursing homes as a painter, and I don't think I could do what you do. To care so much for them at the end of their lives and watch them pass takes a special someone.

  • @pmvines I used to work in home healthcare and I don’t know how the hospice workers who had to take care of the patient’s from getting to know them and their families to their last days do it: it takes a special person and not to let it carry with you in your personal life

  • @pmvines thanks hun! That’s so badass fronting heavy metal. I’d love to hear something from that!

  • I spoke to a young friend yesterday. Among other good things, she's in the process of moving in with her boyfriend. I met him once. I'm usually good at reading people, and he immediately struck me as gentle and sweet. And I can tell the difference between gentle and controlled. I genuinely think this is a relationship that will last and be good for both of them.

I've known her since she was 8. From the beginning, she adored me (and the feeling is mutual). So I decided early on to make sure I was the kind of person I would want her to date, to be a good example. I know a lot of people get into bad relationships because that's how they think relationships are supposed to be. With this and other things, I feel like I helped raise her. And looking at how she's doing now, I clearly did a good job.

But however proud I am of myself, I'm much more proud of her.

  • Happy Birthday @Bear!
As a caregiver for the elderly, I was recently the recipient of two awards, the Caregiver of the Year and the Elevating the Human Spirit award. I love my work, and getting special recognition for a sometimes humble and thankless job meant a lot to me.

  • I am single handedly responsible for bringing back the Dire Wolf

  • Let's see...
This year I finished paying off my car, I've been thinking of myself and not keeping toxic people in my life that I had for years who thought I'd always be there as some sort of safety person they could keep taking advantage of and treat without respect. No more of that. I've beaten Resident Evil Zero, 1 original, 1 remake, 2 original, 2 remake, 3 original, 3 remake, 4 original, 4 remake, Revelations, 5, Revelations 2, 6, 7 (biohazard), and working on 8. Despite not being where I want to be in my career, I've been recognized for performing well at work in my current job. I got 4 new tires along with new brake pads and rotors recently. I've been working on more certificates and applying to jobs in the meantime and have finished some milestones on a certain Python certificate (still have some ways to finish it, but making progress).
As for an older accomplishment, well after years of being unsure what to do and changing majors a few times (liberal arts, music, and finally settling on computer science) I was able to finish my BS in computer science in 2021 while I had Covid. I do wish I had found out I had high functioning autism earlier in life so maybe I could have gotten some accommodations possibly, but I still managed without that.
I just feel hopeful and like good things are coming if I keep working on myself. Guitar, singing, exercise, and coding are some things I will and am working on.

  • @Sheena123 I've listened to your recently released song a few times and you do have a great singing voice! Gained a follower on Spotify for that account. :)

I completed March of the Robots, an art challenge where you draw something based on a prompt that has a robot in it. Each day is a different prompt and drawing.

These prompts were for Frozen, Camera, Gate, Solo, and Code.

  • Happy birthday @Bear !! Hope it's been a good day, friend 🤗
    Oooooo! @Sheena123 what is it!?
    Same question @writercomfort78 ? 😁📚

I want to brag about the fact that I have not, in fact, become a serial killer....despite people really trying to make me!! 🏆 🪙🎉

Also yay @pmvines what you do is genuine kindness and compassion ☺️
