On Mother's Day, my mother, my son and I did manage to watch Sinners. I enjoyed it, and I must say that I enjoyed the Remmick character best due to his views on vampirism and racism. 😁
Lol! I mean if you're gonna conquer the world of humans as a vampire. It doesn't pay to be a silly ass racist. Remmick made sense to me with that logic 👍, too bad humans will never understand that concept. Racism is a human thing! 😆
Especially given the time period that Sinners was filmed in, plus the dance scene of Rocky Road To Dublin was spectacular to watch indeed. 😁💃🕺
And I like (in this film anyway), that once a human is bitten and turned into a vampire their memories are shared amongst the others. I think Underworld is another vampiric film that explored "memories/truth is in the blood" logic. 😁

I do hope that the Solomon Grundy rhyme is still utilized by Christian in the sequel, I really enjoyed watching those scenes in the first Accountant.
I never even thought of teaching my son such a creative thing whenever he would get stressed or stuck in "melt down mode" as I call it. 🤦😏😁 Especially when my son was younger, a lot of his memorable meltdowns did include breaking things like Christian did during the scene when his mother was leaving them.😔😒

I second Sinners! it's such a fun movie, I literally went back to the theater to watch it again! been a while since I've done that!
The Other Guys. Most quotable movie ever. I had a hard time with it at first but I was forced to watch it again. It takes like 5 times to pick up on all the jokes because there are so many of them. You have to watch it like that, and look for the small details. When one of my friends I found it with stumbles over a word it's almost a sure thing that one of us will turn around, "Kristinith, It's Kristinith you come in to my house you get my wife's name right!"
The original Matrix movie shifted something for me.. I have to keep myself from using quotes from it!! lol
Suspect Zero was another one that blew me away..
Thunderbolts is REALLY GOOD even if you are feeling a bit of Marvel fatigue I really recommend checking it out!

Just saw the most recent Tom Cruise movie, "Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning." About the only good thing I can say about the movie is, it's the FINAL reckoning. (Full disclosure: I didn't share the same high praises that a number of movies that were recommended on this thread. Viewer beware 😊)
An older favorite is Groundhog Day.
A comedy with depths if you’re looking for them.
It’s both darkly disturbing and insightful at times.
The movie never makes it clear just how many times the character ended his life in despair, or spent building a new life on hope. The suggestion is thousands of endlessly repeating days.
What would you do in that situation? Embrace death and despair, become a user of others because they don’t matter and there is no lasting consequence (at least apparently so…), or embrace the fantastically varying and rich tapestry of life going on around you?
The main character did all three.
Each time I watch that move it spurs new thoughts.
The ending is the only part of that movie I can’t embrace. But the rest.
My local theater has the full loveseat recliners including the movable arm rest. I've seen some great films there in cuddle sessions...Wicked and Novocaine for example. Lilo & Stitch (out now) looks fun!
So, it took me YEARS to finally (find it first😉) watch it...But I am glad that I did finally watch 80s cult classic, Masters Of The Universe. Lol 😆
So I have been watching He-Man, She-Ra and watching the documentary film that came along with both cartoons...So yeah, had to find the first film version of He-Man (portrayed by Dolph Lundgren) and Frank Langella who portrayed Skeletor. 💀😁
😁👍 I actually liked it, plus I could tell that Frank wasn't lying about how much he REALLY ENJOYED PLAYING SKELETOR! Lol. It really shows in his performance, it really does! 😁

And Dolph Lundgren's views of the film (and his portrayal of He-Man) was opposite of Frank's so those two opinions were the main reason that I decided to order it and watch it for the first time ever! 😆
And Courtney Cox was in it too, clearly after her Springsteen Dancing In The Dark MTV debut.💃☺️
Plus there will be a reboot of He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe coming out next year in 2026. So my son and I will be checking that out next year, and Idris "Heimdall" Elba (😄) will be playing Man At Arms and Jared Leto is playing Skeletor. 👍😁

The coolest thing about cartoons like He-Man and Transformers, is that they were all just TOYS (in the beginning) that later became cartoons, comic books and movies. 😄👍

Jane Austen Wrecked My Life was a great movie!!!!! This is French cinema at it's best! Subtitles are easy to follow and a lot of it is in English too.

Slingblade, with Billy Bob Thornton.. I never saw it be advertised as such, but that movie has allll of the earmarks of a "based on true events" story!!

Yes! @Katota ! I loved the accountant from the start too....I think cuz we have so much NeuroDivergence (neurospicy) in my fam....esp Autism! And I really liked seeing a kick-ass autistic guy ....plus he's pretty easy on the eyes LoL 😏
I wanted to see if the 2nd stood up to the first, and it DOES (and still had the rhyme). The way his dad helped him with meltdowns in the 1st was actually pretty accurate for real life autistic kiddos too....with using the rhyme and holding him till he was able to calm down. Breath work is awesome too and can be a great help for anyone really 😉
*However, the way his dad "trained" him is (hopefully obviously) not a great way to prepare an ASD kiddo for adulthood 🤣
Sling Blade was a great movie. I need to take down off the shelf and give it a watch again.
I thought the first "The Accountant" was fantastic and went in with anticipation to the sequel. I was very disappointed. What a let down.
Millennium Actress directed by Satoshi Kon is my favorite movie, full stop. It reminds me why I continue to push forward and live. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Haven’t seen many recent movies that really resonated with me. A couple of my favorites older movies are (in no particular order)…
The Lives of Others (a period piece about life in East Germany in the early 1980s - pretty depressing subject matter but the best foreign movie I have ever seen)
Vanilla Sky (very confusing movie to follow based on how the story is told on screen but stick with it - it is extremely thought provoking and it all makes sense by the end of the movie).
12 Angry Men (an absolute classic from 1957 starring Henry Fonda and Jack Klugman - the whole movie is set in a jury deliberation room as 1 thoughtful and 11 angry / thoughtless / biased men deliberate the fate of an 18 year old man accused of murder). I consider this one of the top 5 movies ever made.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (Starring Jack Nicholson and Danny Devito). This is another depressing movie that focuses on abuses in the mental health system back in the early 1960s. I do not use the term “trigger warning” loosely but I will use it related to this movie. This movie won many awards including 5 Academy Awards (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay). However, this movie deals realistically with very sensitive subject matter - it is not for everyone.

@lovingspoonfull - Exactly! One of my measures of a movie is “how long do you think about the movie after it is over”? In the case of that movie, it was weeks. The acting was incredible, not just the two cast members who won best actor and best actress but the entire cast was outstanding and made the movie feel so authentic - like you were there with them.
One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest is an all time favorite. Lots of emotions.
Friendship is out now in some places, and it's hilarious.
