I had a potential client, and after we exchanged numbers, we only talked for a few days before he completely went ghost. Honestly, I didnโt care too muchโI know everyone has their own life and Iโm pretty down-to-earth about stuff like that.
But the issue came when he randomly texted me later, asking if I was available the following week. I told him no, I wouldnโt be available, and that I also didnโt feel comfortable traveling to where he was since we hadnโt spoken much. Instead of respecting that, he got dismissive when I called him out. I tried explaining my side, but then he hit me with, โOh, now youโre just acting like a wife,โ before saying goodbye.
Now Before he said goodbye, he tried to play it off like, โOh, Iโve just been busy with work, Iโm tired.โ Like, okayโฆand? Thatโs not an excuse. Iโm not hopping in an Uber just to make your life easier, especially after youโve been MIA and now suddenly want things on your terms. My schedule isnโt here to get thrown off for your convenience. And then, on top of that, I get called a โwifeโ just because I told you youโre being a dick? Please.
At the end of the day, Iโm really not a problematic person โ this is just me venting and getting it off my chest. If I ever do have potential new clients, I want it to be clear that Iโm down-to-earth, humble, and easy to work with. All I ask is respect for me and my personal boundaries. Life happens, and I understand that, but the issue comes in when someone wants everything on their terms without mutual agreement. Thatโs where I draw the line.
