@IronicMaiden i loved the dune books!
I'm average on the geek scale but my claim to it would be completing every Legend of Zelda game released along with the countless hours I've spent on Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. The Legend of Zelda has always been a favorite of mine since I've played A Link to the Past as a 7 year old when I finally got my Super Nintendo during Christmas of 1993. It's one of those classics that leave a lasting impression on you and still holds true even 33 years later. Nintendo BETTER do something for Zelda's 40th anniversary.
One of my Christmas trees that I set up each ear is a Tardis themed tree, complete with a weeping angel on top. And of course I always place a mirror on the mantle across from it. Every year at my Christmas party you can tell who knows, cause they'll see the random mirror and automatically understand.
@Pasquia there are just so so so many things I love about this. 1. that there is a doctor who themed tree 2. that you have multiple trees to put up to have one that is specifically doctor who themed 3. that you even remembered to put up a mirror.
@BrokenWillow I'm hugely into plant medicine as well and I have made tinctures, salves, syrups, deodorants, etc. ❤️❤️
@SpicyNSweet yeeeesssss! It is life. It’s my business as well. Family traditions passed down and some extras 😉 I love that you do that too! Mother Earth is a beautiful gift 🙌🏽🌱🪶♥️
@BrokenWillow Love that!!
When I was growing up, I was definitely interested in things that were considered Geeky by many kids my age:
Dungeons & Dragons, Greek/Arthurian/Norse Mythology, and Sci-Fi/Fantasy in general. Martial Arts (not the modern UFC flavor, but Traditional Martial Arts). Music from bands like Yes, King Crimson, early Pink Floyd, ELP, and Traffic. British comedy shows like Monty Python, Are You Being Served?, Fawlty Towers. Films like Brazil, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Blade Runner, Wizards, Heavy Metal.
I guess I'm pretty much still a Geek, as I like those things today as well!
Fawlty Towers is legit🙌
@SpicyNSweet As long as you don't mention the war. I did, but I think I got away with it.
BAH HA HA HA HA HA OMG THAT SCENE WAS EPIC
@BrokenWillow that plant graphic is so helpful!!! Just getting started in my learning, so very cool.
@SpinDoctor Im so excited for you!!! I’m glad you liked the photo! Let me know if you’d like some helpful book suggestions as well. Always love to share 🌱🌱🪶🪶♥️🙌🏽
@BrokenWillow yes please!!!
When two princes kneel before you , princes who adore you, come on now.
@SelfMadeJay favorite Zelda? Both my cats are named after Zelda characters 😸😸
I am working on a product that has collectibles at the bottom of the cup. It’s called Geek Yogurt.
You may now moan…I recommend you do it vociferously.
I wouldn't take it if you tried to give it to me. I know to beware of geeks bearing gifts.
I remember going on a date with someone who said they were into geeky guys. Apparently I didn't count according to her since I've never watched Star Trek or Doctor Who and haven't read the same comics that she had. I guess watching every star wars movie and almost every Star Wars TV show (just a few I skipped - like maybe less than 5 of all the different ones), reading over 100 Spawn comics, watching various animes, reading manga, reading other comics, geeking out to knowing my favorite metal bands inside and out (including reading auto/biographies, articles, watching documentaries, etc), my love of video games (beating every resident evil main story game except the newest one), watching many super hero movies and cartoons (marvel, dc, and others), and getting a computer science degree didn't qualify in her eyes. 😂
Vintage games andd telescopes get me going.
@CSnMUS87 What a strange attitude. I'd consider that a chance to rewatch my favorite shows and introduce someone to them. I believe in the old saying, "One of us! One of us!"
So I used to practice iaido. It’s a Japanese martial art where you learn how to use a katana and even do tameshigiri, which is where you cut tatami rolls and sometimes maybe even bamboo. I love doing it but it became unsustainable for my schedule since it required me to commit 3-5 hours just on practice days. I’d love to get back into it eventually either through self-practice or through private instruction with a good sensei. Unfortunately another issue I have is I don’t mesh well with dojo culture. From my experience, It really seems like martial arts attracts the biggest narcissistic douchebags, many of them members of the proud boys - or at least molds them into that when they reach the higher ranks. More dojos are like Cobra Kai than you think.
@disneysamurai Sir, is there anything you haven’t done?!! 🤣 seriously love that about ya!
@BrokenWillow lol thanks! I’ve never been to Ohio before and I’ve never skied so there’s that.
@disneysamurai Well as someone who’s from Michigan, by default, I have to say you’re not missing out on the never been to OHIO comment 🤣🤣🤣 Go Blue 😝 And I’ve never been skiing either… been to resorts with skiing but never made it past the outdoor hot tubs lol. There’s something so wonderful about being in a hot tub when it’s cold and snowing 🤷🏽♀️
@mauvefox I have not been to a Renn Faire in quite a while. I used to go years ago when I had my kilt and very long hair. I miss that.
@Pasquia that’s awesome to hear about your trees, especially the Doctor Who one. The Winter Solstice is my favorite holiday.
@BrokenWillow that’s pretty cool about working with herbs. When I first got into Chi Gung, I learned about Chinese Energetic Medicine and acupuncture and herbs. I started gravitating more towards CEM and got quite fond of doing energy healing. Before I had to get my knees replaced, I got into acupuncture and herbal remedies a lot. I still try to use herbal stuff when I can.
@CSnMUS87 you are definitely geek material.
@Bear That makes me happy to hear. There is so much out there that can help heal the body holistically and spiritually. I wish more ppl knew about this and/or are open to learning. I teach ppl all the time! I’m no gatekeeper. Knowledge in this regard should always be free since it’s been freely given to us already ♥️🌱🪶
@BrokenWillow I totally agree. I have never charged for healing or holding space for somebody as well as helping them to learn their abilities as well.
When I first started down this path in 2000 there wasn’t much information and it was a struggle sometimes to learn what I have so I made it a point not to charge people to do what I do. In the same way I usually don’t take expensive workshops and such. I’ve had a lot of people who have crossed my path that I have helped as well as learned from them. So I just pass it on.
If you ever wish to talk about anything or such, please feel free to contact me and leave a message.
@Bear I think we just become best friends 🤣🌱🌱🌱🙌🏽 I’d love to bounce things around with you ANYTIME!
