Favorite comfort foods

It's been raining a lot where I am, and it makes me want to curl up with something tasty and enjoy the downpour. What foods do you find comforting?

  • I like a simple egg salad sandwich, or cheap macaroni and cheese.

  • Tuna melt with tomato soup.

  • A gourmet Cheeseburger with all the toppings and a side of seasoned fries.

  • Chicken tenders and Mac and cheese

  • A good bowl of chili.

  • On rainy days, corn on the cob. Since I can't go out to use the grill, I'll just do it over the stovetop and rub on what I need.

  • Dim Sum. Oh I can eat that everyday. Ramen is also comfy.

  • Mashed potatoes and gravy.

  • My childhood comfort meal was always a bowl of poached eggs and chopped up buttered toast. You mix it together and the runny yolks soak into the bread. Omgggg

  • Ice cream

Soup of any sorts but egg drop soup has been something that’s SOUPer comforting to me recently 😏

Also I make this chicken casserole which makes my soul happy whenever I eat it, but it’s pretty rich and dense so I only eat that every once in a while 😂

    Recipe for said comfort casserole;
Layer tortillas first, then chicken, then shredded cheese cheese, and lastly cream of chicken soup. Continue layering it until you can’t anymore in your oven safe casserole pan, be sure last layer is a bit of extra cheese on top so you get a crispy cheese layer. Put in oven at 350 for about 45 mins. And all done! 🤤
I like it just like that, but people I’ve showed it to likes to add sour cream or hot sauce.

  • Slow-roasted brisket of beef, golden Yorkshire puddings, seasonal trimmings, and a deeply rich, velvety gravy.

  • Mac n cheese and ice cream take the cake.
    But not simultaneously.

  • Over the centuries I have found B- blood hits the spot for me.

  • Yakisoba Noodles or pão de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread). During my days as a college student, I didn't always have the money for lavish or even substantial meals so I got really familiar with ramen, up to the point that I got creative with it. I've been accustomed to the habit of dressing up the ramen noodles I make, close to that you would see in a Ramen restaurant so that's usually something I fall back on when I'm feeling sluggish or when it's pouring down crazy like yesterday.

Pão de queijo is my #2 comfort snack and my mom taught me how to make it at the mere age of 9. It's basically cheesy bread rolled into balls and it's a delight to eat. It's good as is but it's delightful with a dipping sauce of your choosing. My fav is usually marinara sauce or accompanied with tomato soup.

  • Gumbo, mac & cheese, ice cream with magic shell

  • Thank you for the chicken casserole, @Brandi. It's so easy, even a <4% Neanderthal like me can make it.

  • While MOST of you are now making me hungry for random foods at 10 am, my go to is always gonna be tacos 🌮 or some damn good soul food! Give me that TENDERNISM, Mac n cheese, greens and corn bread 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
@SpinDoctor I have to question your taste buds because I’m not sold on tuna and tomato soup together 🤣🤣🤣

I can tell you guys are not from The UK. I'd like to try your foods. I always find it interesting to try foods other people eat that I might not have heard of otherwise.

  • @SpicyNSweet I used to do that when I was a kid with poached eggs. I haven’t had that in so long and that brings back such good memories. My mom always made it for me and I haven’t heard anybody mention that in forever.

  • Most stuff I finest comforting is stuff my mom made. Rice pudding is probably the number one. I love the way she used to make sloppy Joe’s. I haven’t been able to find something similar.

  • @Bear you should have it soon!! ❤️
I love rice pudding too. I should make it for my kids again.

  • I loveee jambalaya with shrimp & sausage

  • Homemade Ghallaba with shawarma Chicken, hummus and pita

  • bread pudding but rice pudding is also good

  • @Bear same. Also used to used toast and eggs that way but it's been since the 90s
