@Alan2018 I have a neighbor down the street and her husband is a virologist which means he collects and analyzes data on viruses for HHS and he warned a few of us a couple of weeks ago to not look at the Ebola crisis as a model for the following reasons:
We are dealing with something distinctly different and quarantine is a calculated guess that they are not sure will work long term. Quarantine is a short term mitigater, not a cure.
I've heard that every intervention is just to buy time until a vaccine is developed ; but that's a good policy, like trying to keep the Titanic afloat long enough for the Carpathia to get closer.
Perhaps something people could do in the weeks / months before they are likely to catch it, is to improve their health ; all those New Year resolutions that were broken before January 2nd. The virus reduces our ability to breathe, so cardiovascular fitness would presumably help to reduce the effect.
