I feel like such an outsider, everyone is going the sweet route and Iโm over here eating olives and cheese at 4AM ๐
Yum!!
I've just eaten two pork pies, but it's 10.40 in the morning over here in the UK, so maybe that doesn't count.
Their sell-by date was yesterday, but I figured if I'd jumped in my Lear Jet and flown West, it's still yesterday.
P. S. I don't yet have a Lear Jet, I'm still saving up. I'm making good progress though, I now have enough to buy the air for the tyres.
OMG! Fried polenta with shredded pepper jack cheese is the most bestest thing ever!
Next time, I'll be having this alongside some chili!!
Oh man, THAT. My grandmother used to make it. Num num.
@littermate ~ Omg! The crispy bits stuck to the bottom of the pan!!! ๐๐๐คช๐๐ฅฐ๐คค
Totally. And don't forget garlic and butter being involved.
@geoff1000 I have never met a pork pie, but someday I hope to, and if it's gluten free, I will eat it.
-Yep, microwave plain popcorn....... the better bad midnight snack..... OR with butter cheese and carmel mix..... whichever....
mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Waffles with sliced bananas and strawberries with a dollop of cool whip.
I always go for the cereal ! ๐๐
@littermate Pork pies are very common in the UK.
Cockney rhyming slang uses the first word of a phrase that rhymes. China = China plate = mate Butcher's = butcher's hook = look
Pork pies are a common example : Porkies = porky pies = lies ; often to be less aggressive, "Stop telling porkies".
Nothing wrong with a good PB&J or some milk and cookies!!๐ช๐ฅ
I had to look up Polenta. Ah ok, cornbread. Heard of that.
I'm sure that I get hungry at midnight in the UK, because my cellphone leaks out the experience of most USA people on this site eating a big late-afternoon meal.
I'm reminded of the scene in "The Terminator" where the girl is obliviously making a snack in the kitchen with headphones on, while her boyfriend is in the bedroom fighting the Terminator.
@Mmart I'm impressed you have all that around at midnight on any given night. I'd have to plan that one out! You peeps have some fine midnight snacking habits and I ain't telling a porky!
Anything breakfasty! Midnight is right around the corner and I'm craving a rolled German pancake with some nutella, peanut butter and cream cheese... But tonight my craving for sleep is slightly stronger... so it'll have to wait...
It's not midnight but I just chowed on baked sweet potato fries--chop up the taters into little fry shapes, roll around in melted butter and salt (the fries not me)--and roasted cauliflower--chop up, roll around in olive oil, salt and pepper (the cauliflower, not me), cook at 350 for who knows how long and take out just as things are getting crispy. If my rosemary wasn't packed, that woulda gone on the cauliflower too.
@littermate Sweet potatoes. My family never had them ; but my friend's family do, so I'm easily led astray. It's like a cat being "stolen" from its owner by leaving out its favourite food.
Hot rice pudding and tinned peaches. I can hear them shouting "EAT ME !" and its keeping me awake.
Rice pudding!!! Mmmm.
Flavored popcorn & fruit snacks
Chocolate ๐ซ or cookie ๐ช ๐ & all the stuff I shouldnโt be eating at midnight ๐
It depends on my mood. Sometimes I like something savory/salty, like pizza rolls, chips, onion rings (sometimes I buy them frozen at the store, which can usually be heated in an oven, air fryer, etc.), cheese, lunchmeat, crackers, an even sometimes leftovers from dinner, depending on what it is. Other times I like something sweet - usually chocolate (or a candy that has chocolate).
light butter popcorn, raw veggies and hummus, low sugar fruit like blueberry or raspberry, apple & PB, a low cal nut like almond or pistachio, low fat cheese & honey, black olives, organic low sugar granola clusters dipped in low fat gelatin free yogurt, english breakfast tea with low fat milk and a dash of raw sugar and maybe a small cookie if I was good at dinner, a nib of 70% organic dark chocolate.
P.S. these are just the options. I always pick only one according to my daily calorie intake and nutritional needs.
Well I'm usually at work at midnight lol but on my 11 pm break I tend to have a lemon Gatorade knockoff and a raspberry cheese Danish mmm sweet and tart.
