@quixotic_life I chuckled.
The rest of it's on Tumblr, here. These sentences are a link.
@DarrenWalker ~ That is one of the bestest things ever!!! 🌴💓
When hugging a tree simply isn't enough.
@quixotic_life: Thanks! I like this one much better than the version I grew up with.
@UltimateChungus: 😐🌴
🤦🏻
Thanks @Mailleweaver for your beautiful contribution to this discussion. Your connection to trees is the heart of this thread.
As for the topic of sentience, let’s allow each other to define what it means to ourselves. This is not a rigorous academic discussion between philosophers and scientists. We’re just fellow human beings expressing our thoughts and experiences. I may have a strict objective view of the concept of sentience. Stated once, that’s great. But the nth iteration becomes an exercise in futility. And will only drive others further away. And, truth be told, I enjoy reading other’s views on sentience, even if I’m not prepared to accept them as my own.
If you're done arguing with somebody, just stop replying to them. That seems to be highly effective.
@cualtzin There you go again spoiling other's fun with your infernal wisdom.
@cualtzin: I like the idea of being allowed to define what words mean for myself. In fact, sock is rug too under with pie fruit.
Shared definitions are overrated. And bluebottle isn't leaved.
So ... If cuddlers were like trees ...

A great big Oak. Just feel like it's part of my family.
I like Screaming Trees.
I know this is a 30 year old reference but I couldn’t resist.
I like screaming at trees.
@FunCartel I never really was into them but I have heard some great songs from Mark Lannegan solo stuff
@FunCartel I remember the Jack Handey "Deep Thoughts" quotes that were on Saturday Night Live for a few years in the early 90s. “If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.” - Jack Handey https://goodreads.com/quotes/7686245-if-trees-could-scream-would-we-be-so-cavalier-about
I'd have to say a Banyan tree for both. Every branch growing long supple roots searching for the earth so they may further nurture the whole of the tree, and finding it slowly growing together to form a new layer of trunk offering more protection and hidden pockets of beauty and shelter.
Spent a summer living in one, they are magnificent things!
@NightShift39 ~ Incredible!! I hope you're working on a memoir of some sort...
Umm nope that would just be one big list of trigger warnings and nightmare fuel.
