I've seen way too many people hurt by dogs (me included) or even killed by one like little kids. Haven't seem the kill part just things on the news. But I have always been a cat person. So cats 100%
My favorite dog is the one I heard on the news about where some stranger broke into a little girls bedroom at night....you know the reason. And there was a dog there who made sure he couldn't succeed so he lay there bleeding until the cops got him. Now that's a good boy doggie

Now, cat or dog...I agree with @pmvines both. XL cats do make great cuddle buddies!!! Cat weighs 10 lbs more than dog, and it's not just fluff!!!!
I love dogs, but never had one of my own. About three years ago, I walked into a shelter looking for a dog, but came out with a cat.

Ideally, I treat everyone equally (cats n dogs, men n women, old n young), in reality, I favor dogs more than cats. It probably because there are many dogs walkers on the street, than cats walkers. I get more affection from dogs, not that cats are not affectionate. Perhaps things would change if only there were more catwalkers.
