Is Cuddling Cheating?

  • I think this depends on the dynamic of the relationship. I don’t think cuddling should be considered cheating but everyone has their standards and boundaries. I wish more people were open to the idea. I think monogamy comes with feelings like all your needs will be met with one person, and lots of people might feel insecure about that.

  • @theCuddleDrgn 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I would never presume to judge or assume what someone’s dynamic is. I am not in their relationship. In addition, the points you made about monogamy are so true. Why do we put everything on one person—sex, hobbies, ambitions, confidant and so on? No one is the perfect everything for another except in Harlequin romance novels. If someone is an aficionado of monogamy, good for them. If they are polyamorous, also good for them. This is why cheating is not an easy thing to pin down because it depends on the people involved.

I also agree with what someone said earlier about “If you have to ask then you are probably cheating.” You know your situation.

  • Yes, if you're doing it behind your partner's back.

My partner has access to my account and reads everything I type and what you all type.

As a SINGLE pro, it is none of my business if you are married, single, straight, or crooked 🗣️IF YOU BOOK A SESSION, we finna cuddle 🤷🏾‍♀️ But if I was in a relationship, I would not offer cuddling services at all. I would just keep that between me and my partner. Not knocking anyone that disagrees, juss not my thing if I’m involved with someone.

  • Is a Pro more likely than an Enthusiast to agree to cuddling someone who’s married?
I think so, based on reading all the comments. It becomes a professional business arrangement to an extent and ideally there’s no risk of emotional attachment.
Plus - Pros might be more agreeable because of not wanting to turn away the income (even though a good caring Pro isn’t doing it just for the $$)

  • Just a quick clarification on polyamory. It is possible to cheat in a poly relationship. It depends on what boundaries have been set, and what has or has not been talked about. Polyamory is not a free pass.

I have a friend who is poly. They discussed with their wife before cuddling with me. In that case, to not do so would have been cheating.

@IronLemon Yes and no. A couple that lives down the street are polyamorous. She is a lawyer (not divorce), but she told me at a block party that she doesn’t want to know who he is sleeping with and she doesn’t tell him who she is sleeping with. They exchange blood test results twice a year for health reasons. They have been together since they were 18 and they are both 41 now so it looks like it works for them. Again, I am not going to judge it. If someone cheats that is on them and about their relationship. But there are relationships where there are free passes in that they have a don’t ask, don’t tell agreement. I do think the blood test thing is smart though.

  • @TheFunCartel You're right, it varies from polycule to polycule. Your friend is on one end and my friend on the other. My last girlfriend, I told her that if she hooked up with someone, I wanted to know afterwards (somehow I just really like the idea of her having fun and being happy). The main thing that matters is everyone has communicated and understands the same rules.

  • I wouldn't use the word cheating, but it may be dishonest. If you are in any sort of committed relationship and are actively seeking out cuddlers on this site without your partner knowing, it begs the question as to why. Perhaps if someone finds themself in such a situation, it would be best to be honest with themselves about their feelings.

  • I was just talking to a pro cuddler about this during a session last night. I did not find Cuddle Comfort (or learn about pro cuddling) until I was already separated, well on the way to divorce. I like to think I wouldn't have partaken in pro cuddling sessions while I was still married, but I'm not 100% sure. The last few years of my marriage saw very little intimacy or affection.

But, that's the same excuse people (mostly men) use to cheat on their partners. "Well I wasn't getting any at home, so I had to go outside the relationship." And that's a lousy excuse. If you're not happy in a relationship, due to lack of sexual intimacy, other types of intimacy, or any other reason -- leave. Don't cheat.

I think for most couples I know (at least hetero couples, as that's what I'm most familiar with), most partners would consider cuddling with someone else a form of cheating. Maybe not the worst form, but still.

I would agree with others on this thread who've said -- if you're looking for physical affection and cuddling on CC or any other site, outside of your relationship, it likely indicates bigger problems (outside of certain special circumstances also mentioned here).

  • I tried to keep the popcorn going in your absence

    🍿🍿🍿

@GuyverGordon Lol! No problem, you're still in the rookie stage with popcorn gifs. I'll help you out this time...😜😄

  • lol at a million I would flag you as SB

    😄😄😄

@Sooson Is "SB" an honorable title for Cuddle Pros? 😄🤣

Thanks it wasn't too stressful this time around, and I started today "shadowing" and will be going back again tomorrow morning for more shadowing. 😁

However, I shall be working nights again like I did at my former employer.☺️

    Eh, it's a job and that's all I need right now.👍

  • Although cuddling is strictly Platonic if your spouse would be mad if they found out then unfortunately yes.

  • @Katota I keep working on it ...

  • Think it's about time to close out this thread.

Yes, 100 percent cuddling is cheating if your committed partner doesn't know married or not. You are bonding with someone else in a deep personal way. Cuddling is a form of cheating.

  • [Deleted User]buttercup6993 (deleted user)

@pmvines yes!!! I agree with all you said. So I revise my answer and defer to...what he said

  • So I revise my answer and defer to...what he said

    Now that’s cheating.

  • Oh i forgot to mention i never cheated in golf either. I don't keep score so if i won or lost i wouldn't know.

  • Just a quick clarification on polyamory. It is possible to cheat in a poly relationship. It depends on what boundaries have been set, and what has or has not been talked about.

    @IronLemon 😁👍

Polyamory is not a free pass.

    😁👍

@IronLemon Thank you, while I prefer monogamy myself. There are MANY who think that poly means "willing to cheat".😏

Just like there are those who "think" that kinky means "easy sex". 😏🙄

  • From what I've seen, the poly and kink communities (of which there is significant overlap) are very big on communication and consent. Traditional relationships tend more towards rules and assumptions.

  • edited November 2024

@IronLemon: As a generality, that is well said and from what I've seen is very often true.

I'm guessing that in a traditional relationship it is often the case that many feel the rules are laid out already or "everyone" knows or should know the general framework.

That said, a lack of communication, whatever the relationship and level of kink-acceptance, is probably what dooms a lot of relationships that don't work out. I've made that mistake myself in the past, I'm sorry to say, and when one's partner does the same, well....

  • u wilddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd asl lmaooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

MARRIED ON THIS APP...???? ASKING IF CUDDLING IS CHEATING????? LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • edited November 2024

    Wow. Good question.
There's the obvious obligatory "everyone is different".. "it's up to you and your partner".

But since you're asking, I'll say yes. It's cheating. There's a level of intimacy. Theres the physical part of a relationship and the emotional part. I think you can cheat on both fronts. Cuddling aside, even.
It's at LEAST hurtful, but disclaimer: I am insecure

ESPECIALLY if you're hiding it. Goodness gracious.
But ya know, occasionally ppl are polyamorous. It's definitely the decent thing to ask about boundaries, but personally I'd feel hurt if my partner felt like I wasn't enough to fill their love bucket

  • Umm, how can this be cheating? 🤔 Everyone stresses the platonic nature of cuddling. Why would you have to disclose this innocent interaction? It's like getting a therapeutic massage 💆‍♂️. Is the failure to disclose that cheating? Seems ridiculous to me 🤷‍♂️

  • If you have to ask, then it’s a big ole Yes.

  • I actually started this when I was in a relationship, and my partner was very supportive. I was transparent about everything that happened and conversations that I had with cuddlers. He always loved how I was able to empower people emotionally while simultaneously reminding folks that the dynamic of cuddling are platonic and non-romantic. I only recently became single, so its interesting to experience this now.

  • @TheFunCartel yeah for sure, I think that what you said last is true. Transparency is important in a successful relationship, but J guess I would also understand why someone wouldn’t. Relationships are complicated, and sometimes we can’t get out. But also, our needs evolve but people and their ability to be open minded and accepting does not. I do think someone should consider talking to their partner about the idea. But like I said earlier, everyone is entitled to their journey.

  • @OverTheMooon that is a great disclaimer.

    I am insecure
    I have many insecurities
I am comfortable with most of my insecurities special when it comes to my partner
I'm uncomfortable with the insecurities that involve my self (physically and mentally)

I also am comfortable sharing my insecurities with my partner concerning her
I hope she'd be sensitive to those, I'd try to be sensitive to hers

I'm also confident in may things

That's why in my relationship I'd consider cuddling cheating. But I'd not consider it cheating in everyone's relationship.
