  • But what if you are completely alone? I talk to people I work with, but that's pretty much it. The rest of my time has been in complete isolation for years now. It's at the point where I had to cancel a session I set up just because being around another person in that setting has just become either a daunting task or downright terrifying to me. I've basically had to accept the fact that I won't feel any type of human touch anymore.

  • @Gryf have you considered starting small? I know virtual cuddles is a huge controversial issue, but it can help with loneliness to talk to someone and work your way toward in person cuddle.
Also, to everyone I am not looking to start a new fight. There is a thread for fighting over virtual cuddles take comments there.

  • @stormydaycuddle I did consider it, but at this point, I'm just giving up on all of it. The only local "professionals" that ever contact me are just pushy about setting something up and the ones I think I would feel comfortable with don't respond. Why try anymore when I can't even pay for cuddling?

  • Hello @Gryf sorry to hear about your various difficulties. Obviously you are in the best position to decide if this is worth it for you, or if other steps should be taken to address your needs.

I’m responding because i see we’re both in Phoenix.

I don’t know who you’re talking with (and I’m not asking) but I will say I’ve met several cuddlers, pro and enthusiast, and the majority are deeply caring and internally beautiful people.

They also have very busy lives that they share as they can, and many others including myself take their time whenever we can. I would recommend you not take a lack of response personally.

All I can say is that if you do decide to stick with it, I am confident that at some point you’ll find the same and build the kind of connectivity and warmth that will enrich your life.

  • @lovingspoonfull I appreciate that, but I'm still giving up here. Of course the people here have busy lives just like everyone else, but when 5 or 6 "pros" completely ghost you when they're regularly online, that tells me all I need to know.

  • @Gryf Your profile consists of “I have given up on cuddling” yet you were just on 12 hours ago. Seems like a self-fulfilling profile.

Your profile is like a business that in the window says “Open but it’s pointless to patronize our establishment”. If you don’t try then why expect a pro or enthusiast to try?

  • @Gryf
First off, it sounds like counseling would be really beneficial, since it seems you've developed a fear around touch.

Secondly, your continued presence here shows that you haven't given up. That's a good thing. Nurture that tiny bit of hope and bravery. Write something small about yourself in your profile.

Thirdly, I've saved your link and would be happy to get to know you and meet up if I travel through Arizona. I'm always willing to go with whatever comfort level my cuddle friends are at...there's no wrong or right way to start cuddling, especially if you have fear around physical closeness.

You're doing well by reaching out here. I hope you don't give up...on yourself, or cuddling. 🫂

  • Hey everyone, I’m new to this website but sadly not new to depression and mental health. I served in the military for 8 years and my last deployment in 2020 I planned to be my last one. I was going through my divorce, about to get out the service and felt alone. Luckily I kept pushing and made it here today but I have some brother and sisters in arms who were not so lucky. I know I’m a complete stranger but if anyone need to talk to someone whether it’s a deep conversation, something you need to get off your chest or just something great that happened and you have no one to share with I’m only a message away! If you think no one else cares I always will! Thank you everyone for addressing mental health and I hope you have an amazing day!!

I love that this site has a thread like this. I’ve dealt with mental health issues since literally my first breath. I broke my collarbone when being born and doctors think that trauma may had affected my central nervous system. I can’t remember ever being at complete peace other than my first ketamine infusion a couple of years ago. (Something people who are treatment resistant like me, might look into, although not cheap) I’ve been on every medication you can think of and they either poop out after a month or so, make me gain enormous amount of weight, or just plain don’t work. I did ECT (shock therapy) in 2017 and on my 3rd treatment I had a very rare event happen where I had 2 brain bleeds, went into respiratory arrest and my kidneys failed. As much as I want to give up, I haven’t. I’m spilling some of my history in hopes that someone who is really struggling and don’t feel seen, that I do see you. If anybody is struggling and needs to talk to someone, please reach out to me in a message or talk to someone. It’s ok not to be ok and you are loved

@kydavid if you're up to trying newer and less well researched treatments, try LENS! I haven't done it myself, but I'm a person in recovery for mental health and also I study neuroscience - and LENS is one of the most interesting things I've read about. I've heard incredible stories about people who use it. Basically it listens to your EEG and plays it back to you, almost like holding up a mirror to your nervous system's DMN. Might be worth giving it a go if you can?

  • [Deleted User]kydavid (deleted user)

@linnenslover I will definitely look into that. Thank you!

  • [Deleted User]kydavid (deleted user)

@linnenslover is much different than TMS?

  • Is LENS a treatment through a doctor? I googled that and didn’t find anything. Is that spelled correctly? Is it an app or a treatment? I would like to know some specifics. I’m going through cognitive testing and have dealt with depression for nearly 40 years.
    Thanks.

    Thank you for this @Sideon

Mental health is such an important thing to keep in mind. Lead with kindness, always <3

  • I tried a lot of antidepressants but nothing worked. Esketamine treatment looks very promising and most insurance covers it.

  • [Deleted User]kydavid (deleted user)

@TiredAndBored ketamine has been a game changer for me and a lot of other people. Wishing you the best, and good luck!

  • mm, thank you for the thoughtfulness in sharing this.<3 I love this space more and more with each passing day.
