@quixotic_life The cuddle gods can do whatever they want to! It's their site.
@alaskaman12 ~ I know... I just wanted to know why the style of reins they're controlling with have changed... the old ones were so much easier to understand as they provided guidance...
typo edit
@quixotic_life shhh don't let my secret out π€£
Oops! I mean @pmvines ~ You're a bad man. A very bad man.
better?
@quixotic_life It is what it is. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
I'm gonna make two cakes and eat one and have one.
@littermate
@quixotic_life @littermate π
Hahaha @alaskaman12
Merged
@mark this is BRILLIANT!!! I love the original....
β Warning: This topic is not what some people might refer to as a 'safe space" - it will likely contain some heated debates. If you're here to relax, you might want to consider ignoring it.β
As ALWAYS thank you for being our happiness hero!!
edit: prior comment deleted...
I thought all of the recently removed hot topics had been moved here, but they weren't. So ... πββοΈ
One thing this thread does show is I've been posting for several years and have been consistent in my assertions π€£
@sillysassy Glad you like it!
@quixotic_life I recognise your feedback earlier. It is certainly my preference that we avoid deleting topics where there has been thoughtful contributions. When such a topic is unsuitable for this website or evolves to be disruptive, I would like our first consideration to be that of closing the topic rather than deletion.
It is ironic that a thread that was closed at my request due to potential of not rubbing some folks the right way and taking it too seriously was merged into another thread lol . Thanks @mark I feel it is a more appropriate home for it. Might I suggest also merging the gripes and other grievances thread ?
@pmvines hahahahhahaha ...... That is a fun find!! "I still believe now what I believed then!!" Maybe I should've come over here to see what all the threads are that consistently get moved to "off topic" Possibly another statistic search for fabulous @respectful.
Merged into Off-topic thread due to the heated nature of the discussion that followed.[/Mark]
This is the kind of nonsense I'm talking about:
https://news.yahoo.com/trump-covid-post-deleted-facebook-155137700.html
My own US President, who was just hospitalized for days for life-threatening COVID-19 symptoms, who was put on oxygen twice, yet hasn't had this happen with typical influenza, now says COVID-19 is not as bad as the flu...
This kind of ignorant or dishonest statement and attitude is why my country has lead the world in infections and deaths, or at least had far more relative to other 1st-world countries, has exacerbated our economic woes, strained our hospitals, has put who knows how many people at risk or has killed, completely avoidably, and what causes people I've talked to to go full denialist and caused me to react with intolerance towards it now. I'm tired of this being dragged out and made worse by this ignorance.
If you think medical science and medical professionals' are lying to you and fake, there's something wrong with you, and you don't deserve their service and are just making this problem worse and dragging out our economic woes. Other countries have done far better by following the medical professionals' advice, especially in countries whose government took it seriously and forced restrictions. My country is a mess, it's f'd; we complain the most about the economy while making it worse through ignorance, and our proven liar and hypocritical Dope in Chief is leading the way.

Nobody asked your opinion
@MrFirefighter This is a public forum, where discussion is encouraged. Nobody needs to ask for his opinion.
@MrFirefighter, This is a free country...wait its not free, we stole it from the Native Americans.
The key phrase is βin most populations.β Heβs in one of the populations it hits the hardest.
@BrianLopez A coworker stole some equipment from his previous company ; and then complained that someone at his new company borrowed it without asking, saying, "I stole it, so it's mine".
The Greeks complain that the Elgin Marbles ( some old marble statues ) are in The British Museum, but should be in a Greek museum, because they are part of Greek history. I had to put him straight, explaining that the British Empire was built by centuries of going round the world robbing things, so being a prime example of that behaviour, they very much deserve a place in a British museum.
@davebutton I think Covid-19 isn't as bad as influenza, yet. It's had less than a year, influenza has been around for decades or more.
I think also it isn't as bad, because we shut the whole world down to stop it ; and if we hadn't, we'd have lost over 10 million by now.
Best guess is that if we get a good vaccine, we'll use that to return to normality ; but if Covid-19 mutates, each year it and flu will vie for which kills the most.
@davebutton You might think Trump is an arrogant fool, but at least when he had Covid-19 symptoms, he didn't insist on being driven around by the Secret Service. Oh, actually, yes he did.
Try this for equivalent UK foolishness. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-54433535
There's a scene in Tenet where The Protagonist says to Michael Caine's character, "You English don't have a monopoly on snobbery", and he replies, "Not a monopoly, more of a controlling interest". The US may be bad, but the UK has been misbehaving since before the US was born.
COVID-19 gas a death rate of 3-4% of infections globally, influenza is 0.1%... that means it's worse.
I'm not gonna debate the science with anyone, because there's no better source of information for it than the people in the medical and related field; not politicians, not talk show hosts, not your crazy uncle.
Our President is irresponsible and making it worse through ignorance or dishonesty, just to improve his image for reelection. I'm blaming him personally for how bad it is now, and I'm done with his nonsense. I don't care who wins, they're both bad, all I know is one is making this pandemic worse.
EDIT: I'm unsubscribing from this thread. I'm denying the denialists. They're all begging to be denied medical care if they deny medical professionals.
@davebutton My biggest fear is a bad vaccine being announced just in time for the election, which will then discourage everyone from the first good one that comes along.
There's a quote on the quote thread. "It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it."
We should add, "or his chances of reelection".
And ... there it is. This (CC) once safe harbor that provided a measure of quiet from the chaotic world has now become yet another forum for political angst, joining the plethora of social media that is already overrun by such bile.
Good bye. I'm out.
@DrCuddleBug The threads have titles, so that people can avoid the ones they don't want.
@geoff1000 The site also has a title, cuddle comfort, or have you all forgotten that?
You did choose to read the thread, including after saying, "I'm out". I'd have thought it worse when such posts appear in a "mainstream" thread.
There are "irrelevant" threads in CC about poetry and cooking and travelling and all sorts. Politics are kinda relevant, because they will decide when physical meetings become easier.
