Right now, this site seems to be evenly divided between bulls and people who delight in waving red capes. I can't see any newcomer visiting the forums and wanting to stay on the site.
Which is likely why so many people who have stayed here long enough for me to meet are not avid forum users

I'm curious why timeouts aren't used for people who are just stirring up forum angst. I would think timeouts are for people to calm down and reflect right? It shouldn't be just for violations. Some people just get too riled up even if they haven't violated TOS. Maybe after the time out, they will return without name calling? I don't see that being used in the threads I've seen. It seems like just a few people are involved in most heated threads. Maybe use time outs for those cases?

After being on this site for almost three years now, I'm beginning to think that some people are here simply to argue and start controversy rather than actually get to know people, make friends, and cuddle, which I assumed was the original purpose of the site. Perhaps someone could start a CC chat site so they can argue and vent 24/7 without moderation.

And yet, I've never seen anyone's position changed by a conversation in an online forum, so these conversations become nothing more than shouting matches.
