Question on disability

I may end up paralyzed due to health issues im hoping not but still waiting to learn more from dr and get referrals. I only just found out about health issues friday so only a few days ago at emergency room and they wouldn’t tell me much just saying to make urgent and immediate appointments with drs.

Sorry for rambling
My question is if i do end up partially or fully paralyzed i dont know how badly i can be yet but is it still possible to cuddle? And are there alot of people with experience cuddling with someone with disabilities?

Personally I would be down to cuddle a disabled person.

I would cuddle somebody with disabilities.

  • I think I’d be open to it with the right coaching and instructions. Some folks that I’ve known had very specific care requirements, and to be honest I’d be concerned about accidentally causing harm.

As for another thought, just use good judgment about who and where. I don’t typically assume the worst, but a situation where you can’t defend yourself or your home requires a lot of trust.

  • It's possible, but you do have a to be mentally and emotionally prepared for people to be weird about it. I'm disabled myself and while some people are cool about it, most people are very unfamiliar with how disability works, so it makes them uncomfortable. They also tend to have very odd views on it, so be prepared for very weird and intrusive questions, and things not working out, usually not because of the reality of your situation, but their idea of what they think about your situation.

Best of luck navigating the health issues!!

  • @Runawaycuddles thats a great point. My aunt had various disabilities and they never failed to make many (even most) people uncomfortable.

For many it wasn’t mean spirited, but it hurt her regardless. It takes time or a special empathetic person to treat the disabled as just a person. But those people are gems if you can find them or cultivate them,

  • I have cuddled with a disabled person twice—both were pros even.

  • I have Cerebral Palsy and have had it all my life. I am pretty up front about it. I let potential partners and cuddle friends know, and then focus on what we can do more so than what we cant. For example, “It’s painful for me to have my neck touched. But I love to have my arms stroked, my head scratched, and my back rubbed. My arms work great, so how you want me to touch you?”

@Touchstarved321 I'm really sorry to hear your news. Sounds like a pretty grim situation. I wish you the very best of luck.

Yes, it is absolutely possible for disabled people to cuddle, it does happen and it's not that rare. For example, there are successful professional cuddlers who are themselves disabled, and there are a number of disabled members who pop into the forum occasionally. There aren't lots of people who have experience in cuddling somebody who is disabled, but there are a few and there are others who are kind and thoughtful and willing to learn. The trick will be finding them.

Most people find it difficult at first to find the right person to cuddle. There is a learning curve with this site, and you will have to navigate that just like anybody else. Put on your thick skin, don't take any of it personally, and persist and you will be successful. Here are some links you might find helpful. They are general, and apply to everybody to a greater or lesser extent.

Yes. If you have sensory perception you can cuddle, and that's cuddling. A dedicated partner will do their utmost to ensure your senses are appropriately stimulated in the most beneficial and efficacious manner possible.

Wishing you ease with finding yours. 🤗
    Warm bear hug
