About me
I suppose the easiest way to explain what kind of cuddler I am is to tell you why I cuddle in the first place.
I was touch starved for most of my life.
And I don't mean I went a little too long without a hug. I mean the kind of touch starvation that leaves this quiet, aching hollowness somewhere behind your ribs. The kind where you desperately need warmth, connection, somebody's hand in yours, somebody's arms around you...but you have absolutely no idea how to ask for it without feeling needy, awkward, foolish, or like you're asking for too much.
I know that feeling far too well. I know what it is to want nothing more complicated than to be held and still convince yourself you shouldn't need it. So yes...touch matters to me.
We live in a strange world these days. We are connected to everybody and somehow close to almost nobody. We have phones in our hands all day, notifications going off, messages coming in, social media profiles showing the world what we ate for lunch and what we thought about something at two in the morning. We have built entire digital versions of ourselves. And sometimes I think we spend so much time making sure our digital presence is seen that our physical one starts to feel like it isn't even real anymore.
But we are real. We're warm, breathing, tired, complicated human beings, and sometimes we just need another human being nearby. Sometimes you need a hand wrapped around yours. Sometimes you need to lay your head on somebody's chest and listen to their heartbeat. Sometimes you need an arm around your waist, your hair played with, your back rubbed, or somebody to pull you a little closer. And sometimes you don't need to talk about a blessed thing. You just need to feel real again. That's why I cuddle. Because I know what that hollow ache feels like. And if I can be the reason somebody feels real for a little while...if I can give somebody something I spent most of my life wishing someone would give me...and doing that costs me nothing but a little time, kindness, warmth, and human connection, then why in the world wouldn't I? Why shouldn't I be for somebody else what nobody was for me?
That's just how I'm built. I'm warm, nurturing, protective, affectionate, a little stubborn, plenty sarcastic, and just ridiculous enough that there is a very real chance I will make you laugh when you were trying your best to be serious. I care about people. Not the polished version you put on a profile. You. The awkward you. The shy you. The tired you. The one who talks too much when you're nervous. The one who goes completely quiet because you don't know what to say. You don't have to impress me. You don't have to entertain me. And honey, you certainly don't have to walk through the door pretending everything is fine.
"Fine" has been doing entirely too much heavy lifting for all of us anyway.
Come sit down. Breathe. We'll figure the rest out.
As a cuddler, I'm affectionate and adaptable. I can be the little spoon or the big spoon. I can curl against your chest or let you curl against mine. I love holding hands, gentle back rubs, playing with hair, head scratches, resting my head in someone's lap, letting someone rest theirs in mine, and those comfortable tangles where twenty minutes later nobody is entirely sure whose foot that is.
Fair warning though, human arms were clearly not designed with cuddling in mind. We may have to rearrange ourselves six times before everybody's circulation agrees to cooperate.
More than anything, I'm a nurturing cuddler. I want you comfortable. I want you safe. I want you to know that "no" is a perfectly good sentence.
So is "closer."
So is "can we move?"
So is "I don't like that."
So is "hold me tighter."
And so is "I need a little space."
Consent and communication aren't interruptions. They're what make real comfort possible.
You never have to lie there wondering whether moving is going to offend me or whether you're allowed to ask for something different. Speak up. I'll listen.
Some people need conversation. Some need laughter. Some need reassurance. Some need silence. And some people have been carrying the whole damn world on their shoulders for so long they have forgotten what it feels like to put any of it down.
Those are usually the people I understand best.
I can't fix everything waiting outside the door. I can't straighten out your family, heal every old wound, fix your job, undo heartbreak, pay the bills, or magically make tomorrow easier.
Lord knows I wish I could.
But maybe for an hour or two I can make the world a little quieter. Maybe your shoulders can finally come down from somewhere around your ears. Maybe you can breathe without realizing you've been holding it. Maybe you can remember that you exist outside of screens, responsibilities, expectations, and whatever role everybody else needs you to play. Maybe you don't have to be useful for a little while. Maybe you don't have to be strong. Maybe you don't have to explain yourself.
You can just be. Warm. Safe. Held. Real. And maybe, for a little while, neither one of us has to feel quite so alone. For me...that's reason enough.
