If you were to draw a "social Venn Diagram", I'd be in that little (often lonely) circle in the middle where all the overlap happens. This isn't a new phenomenon; t'was ever thus... even in high school, I played in the bands, sang in the choirs, was on the football & rugby teams, played D&D (back before being a nerd was cool, lol!)... and yet, felt like a bit of an outsider wherever I was because I wasn't "in" any particular group.

Maybe it is this, plus my natural empathy, that lets me relate so easily to all kinds of people, on their terms
